So we just got an inch or 2 here and I went to go pick up something to eat. I figured id screw around in the snow while I'm out. Turned the 4wd on and traction control off. I went around some corners drifting sideways and notice the traction control light blinking on and off next to the traction control off light. My question is, is the traction control really off if the light is blinking or is just telling you the wheels are spinning ?

This is for FD1 im guessing. I should probably read the manual
Yes, it's for all 4x4 models. It's usually about 7 seconds that you have to hold it, but I don't count, I just want until I hear the chime.

Thanks guys I will give it a try tomorrow. For sh!ts and giggles whats the point of only having the traction control turned partially off ?

if you need a little slippage. when I put my pat into "off road" (fdII) it automatically turns if off partially, as you expect tires to slip off road, and you don't want the tcs to fight you while trying to drive.

so partial off is good for off road/dirt/gravel/and some snow/wet weather conditions.

so when do you want it totally off ?

Tried it out this morning and it worked as said with the chime. Now to get some more snow so I can try and get this bad boy side ways all the way down my street.

Deep snow and ice off road, full off works better, especially on steep hills where you know wheels will slip, otherwise it will use the BLDs to lock the wheels. I've had that happen, push the gas and nothing happens, you just sit there, or going up hill press more on the gas and actually slow down.
