What's the max tire size I can run on my Pat. It's fwd with no lift. Willing to modify the pinch weld. 225/75/16 too big?

I just had BF Goodrich TA KO2 235/70/16 with Pro Comp 7069 (with - 12 Offset) on my Patriot 2010. They had to crush the triangle thingy with a hammer to fit them (sorry I don't know how to explain this properly in english). My Pat runs fine witht them.

That is what's known as the "pinch weld mod" if I understand you correctly. A near-blade of metal/plastic inside the rear of the front fenders, near the bottom?

New Tire From Continental

Continental has a fairly new on/off road tire called the Terrain Contact A/T in some interesting sizes. I am considering a 225/60R17 on stock 2010 Patriot alloy rims.

Do folks think this tire size with work with no rubbing? Jeep is stock. Does anyone have experience with these tires yet?

Thx,

I have P225/60R17 Firestone Destination LE2's with no rubbing, and they're just barely shy of stock size. They've been installed for 40k miles, and I probably have 100-200 fewer miles on my Jeep than the odometer says, kind of difference. 225-65-17 is the biggest known to fit with any tire, though some tires, such as the Hankook Dynapro as mentioned earlier in this thread, fit without rubbing in 235's.

Hi,
I'm very new here. I bought a used 2014 Jeep Patriot latitude this Spring with 20,000 miles on it. It has the stock alloy wheels and the original (what I would think are) lower profile tires. Since they are worn and have some dry rot..... I want to replace them before my State inspection is due in December. While I do not go off road I would still like a bit more of a slightly aggressive tread for winter ( as well as summer use) The vehicle is fully stock and I'm not wanting to change it yet So can anyone recommend a tire that would fit properly and not be low profile but still look good?
Thanks
Jim

I ran Firestone Destination LE2's from August(or maybe September?) 2014 until just a few days ago. They're a little on the pricier side for a street tire, but the tread is pretty aggressive, they last a decent while and performed well enough in dirt/snow, and I found out recently they're actually available in the largest size tire a Patriot ever rolled off the line with: P215/65R17. If you buy that size, your local dealer can set your speedometer and odometer to accomodate it. If you go bigger, you'll need to find someplace else, perhaps an independent mechanic or (maybe) a reputable tire shop with the right equipment. Not sure tire shops do that though.

A Patriot can indeed accomodate up to a 225-65-17, but that would throw the speedometer off quite a bit, and the odometer as well. For this reason I ran my Destinations as 225-60-17, to avoid needing to recalibrate. Turns out, that size is just a teeny bit smaller than stock 215-65-17, so I probably have a couple hundred extra miles on the odometer from the last 40k driven. Your call on your own rig, but it's wise to recalibrate for each change in size if you want the dash to read accurately.

Welcome @Jhonbm! The member who posted that photo hasn't been on the site in several years. However, maybe someone else can help you. As I noted earlier in this thread, the biggest tires I've run were 225/75-16. I did not do any modifications and I only got a slight rub when backing up over some pretty big bumps. I never noticed any problems when going forward.

Those are pro comp wheels and 235/70/16 KO2 tires. They have to pinch weld to make them fit.

Did the RRO lift kit, pinch weld mod. and now running All Terrain tires on 8" ION 133 wheels (offset -5) 245 x 70 x 16" no rubbing problems. I ran this tire and wheel combo before the lift kit without problems. My one concern was the limited clearance between the rear tires and the fender as this combo does stick out the fenders.
Check out this combo. This should be a good candidate even without a lift. Check out 171 ion wheels if you like that style of wheels.
