is your tranny shift lock out of adjustment or needing to be tightened for tension?

 

It could be something as silly as a bad ground. I have only had mine for 3 weeks, so I haven't really dug into the electrical system. I know the TIPM pretty much handles anything and everything electronic in our riots, but there's a slight chance they went simple on this one and its a N.C. switch that is grounded on one side.

 

Check your fuses. My wife had the same problem with a Suzuki Sidekick.
Turns out that the transmission shifter won't operate if the brake light fuse is blown. Probably for security reason. Might be the same for the Patriot, I don't know but worth a try. Good luck.

fuses are all good.. no broken linkage in there. thinking it might be the solenoid inside the assembly. i will find out after work

 

It's been addressed before here. Didn't drive the jeep today but I think there is an access point on the passenger side of the shifter to bypass shifted lock. Couple of members had to use this access point to get to dealer if I rember right. Search for shifter bypassed maybe. Remember that you don’t have brake lights though, be carefull.
