I took the tyres off te paint the rusty center of the brake discs.

Now I discovered the wheelbolts are rusting, They're galvanized steel and covered with some kind of stainless steel sleeve.

You don't notice it really from the outside, but my biggest concern is that te rims will start corroding, anyone else problems with his rims yet ?

Biggest problem you're going to run into with the crappy stock lug nuts is that the caps will separate from the nuts, thereby leading you to have to hammer a socket on to remove the nut. Best thing to do is to buy a set of one piece lug nuts from McGard or Gorilla and call it good.

It was capitalized..... I thought, Rusty Wheelnuts, it was a guys name. ;)

I'm not sure why factory lug nuts are made that way. Cap separation is always a problem 8 years down the line. I always put some motor oil on the stud or they rust on up here in Minnesota. I have use both McCord and MrGasket lug nuts, but the first time you put them on the car, the chrome gets scratched where the nut contacts the wheel and you are right back to the ring of rust like you have right now. Someone must make a solid stainless lug nut. (if not I'm going to tool up and start) The only thing you gain is the nut is solid and won't have a cap that comes loose leaving an odd sized nut that is hard to remove.

Stainless is usually tougher than steel. Stainless is a mixture of nickel and chrome. The biggest problem with some grades of stainless is it's tendency for threads to gall up and jam. Most stainless nuts are 18-8 stainless.
