in fact here's the review article I've written on the new 2014 jeep patriot for autoyahoomotortrendguide.com
"Four similarly priced 2014 vehicles go head to head in the years best 4-category shootout! Does the patriot have what it takes to be a winner?
Speed test:
Unfortunately the jeep patriot is sluggish compared to the similarly price ducati 1199 panigale. http://www.ducatiusa.com/bikes/super...olore/index.do
both have 17" wheels and cost the same. For some reason the jeep patriot goes 0-60 in 12 seconds while the ducati panigale does 0-60 in just
2.9 seconds and gets better gas mileage.
That's 5 times faster than the patriot for the same price. Clearly the patriot will have trouble selling in to this market.
Gas mileage:
Next lets compare the toyota prius electric to the jeep patriot. http://www.toyota.com/prius-plug-in/#!/Welcome
Our test model jeep patriot fdII gets a combined mpg of a measly 21mpg wherease the electric toyota prius gets a whopping 95mpg!!
Once again the patriot falls short whereas the famous toyota brand does it again by getting 5 times better gas mileage than the jeep patriot, a clear looser once again.
Towing test:
Now for the jeep patriot vs ford superduty F350 diesel. http://www.ford.com/trucks/superduty/trim/f350xl/
Lets see if the patriot can redeem itself in this 3rd category. On paper the Jeep tows 1000lbs wherease the similarly equiped Ford tows 65tons.
We contacted NASA directly for this test to see how far the patriot could tow the space shuttle. Much to our amazement and dissapointment we
couldn't get the little jeep to tow the mothership of our astronaughts even one inch! Now that's not very patriotic of the patriot now is it?.
To make sure it was a fair test we attached the same exact receiver hitch to the Ford F350 dually diesel. Alas the ford wins! It towed the space
shuttle all over town and back to cape canaveral!
Unfortunately the jeep patriot comes in 4th place out of four vehicles in our test struggling to accel in any of the 4 categories.
Sadly Fiat/Chrysler has a lot to learn if it expects Jeep to be a major contender in todays vehicle market as we see the jeep patriot
can not keep up with todays competition in any category. Todays vehicle shoppers demand performance that Chrysler simply can not deliver"
