No rear air ducts AFAIK.....just in the dash.

 

Never heard of Rear seat heat ducts before not on the Patriot especially as being standard.

 

It's on the Jeep site as standard on all models 2008 and 2009.

They are under the front seats.
Not really grilles just an opening.
If you look under the front seats (from the rear) you will see a plastic rectangular (with rounded corners) opening. That is the duct.

 

Not trying to double post. There is apparently some issues with the board at the moment.

 

I'll confirm what JoeB is saying. They are opening (ducts if you will) under the front seats that direct air into the back. They work quite well.

I've heard from my back seat occupants they work well.

 

Thanks, since I'm too lazy right now...Do they work on all settings? Even though they call them heat ducts, do they function with the AC at all?

 

I am thinking that they are only active when a floor setting is chosen (so it is heating/cooling depending on what temp setting is). I can't really tell by looking at the parts drawing. Someone will have to experiment.

 

Okay, I found them...Didn't expect them to be so far towards the front on the front seats. I didn't look underneath but I felt a metal sheet under the seat that I think hinders the air movement. I'll have to check it out today, this morning it was too dark.

 

The reason why they are so far forward is to allow for more foot space under the front seat. Standard in 2007 as well.

Sio that's what that is. Crap, I store stuff under the seats. I reached down there once to grab a sealed binder and felt that, but hadn't a clue that they were vents.
