Maybe a bad motor mount?

 

Kind of hard to diagnose sounds without hearing them... by any chance does your Patriot have an aftermarket radio or electrical accessories? If so, it's possible that the wires are just flopping around inside the dash making noise. Could also be a loose "beauty panel"... the large plastic piece that covers the engine.

Wow... that's a odd sound. Does it only make the sound when the driving? Or does it also make it in drive but at a stop?

 

I brought it to the mechanic and they can’t find it either
Yeah it makes it when I’m at a stop as well but if I put the car in neutral at the light it’ll stop

 

So only in drive, but whether you're moving or not... since I've been having transmission problems lately I'm tempted to say it's that, lol. But it seems to me the only way to tell would be to have someone poke around under the hood with the Jeep in drive and someone holding the brake.

Can you feel it as well? I don't think it sounds like a motor mount... those usually have more of a "thunk" sound to them (in my experiance at least). CVT's tend to vibrate a decent bit in drive... and it doesn't sound like a heavy part that's making that noise, so maybe a loose heat shield? There's a couple of those shat could make a sound like that. I'd try to get a friend to help you so you could at least try to narrow down the general area the sound is coming from.

 

PS, don't try finding it by yourself with the Jeep in drive and using the parking brake to hold it still... that probably woudn't end well.

 

Sounds like a stuck blend door. Like the gear is catching and then slipping.

Maybe try a HVAC calibration or look for HVAC codes. They won't normally pop the CEL.

Also, check for loose heatshields or hanging/damaged exhaust

EDIT: Do you have a video of the nose from the outside with the hood open? You say the sounds seems to be coming from under the hood, but the video is from in the car.

I replaced the tensioner and it’s still doing it. Any suggestions? I’m at a loss, it only does it while I’m drive. If i place the car in neutral it stops

You're not alone! My Patriot has the same issue, I have a 2015. A friend of mines told me his 'new' Patriot has a annoying continuous rattle going on when holding the brake in drive only.

Only advice I was given was to go for a tune up.

Mine does the same thing, I replaced motor mounts and more, still does it in drive, park and neutral is smooth, someone stated it's idling to low?

 

Hello, I'm having this same issue, it started after a mechanic lost one of the original springs near my coil pack while Changing my spark plugs, but I've also noticed my engine cover is loose, anyone have a diagnosis on this yet?
