Per the service manual (attached), you don't need to remove the spindle to get to the springs.

 

Ok thank you very much. I should be able to do this job myself then if the spindle and bearings don't need to be removed.

 

I did the complete rear brakes including the shoes for the e-brakes some time back. I do have experience with working on cars and this was not a hard job to me. I replace the shoes, top hats, calipers, pads, brake lines, wheel speed sensors, and all new springs on my 2010 Patriot
