My 18 year old daughter just bought a 2011 Jeep Patriot .....of course a week after we bought it the engine light comes on reading to codes p0843 primary transmission oil pressure sensor circuit high and p0777 secondary pressure solenoid stuck on low pressure...wondering if this is a possible fix or if it is going to need a whole new transmission...we are new to the cvt transmissions....thanks for any advise....Lia from NY

Since it's a 2011 and probably has high mileage, it obviously needs to have the transmission checked. Beyond that, nobody can tell you anything without looking at the transmission and test-driving it. It's quite possible that the transmission simply needs to be serviced with a fluid change and clean-out, which requires a bit of work and skilled hands. A Jeep dealership may or may not service it in that manner - many Jeep dealers are hesitant to service the CVT, if you have one of those - and simply tell you to buy a new transmission. I would find a good truck and SUV auto shop and see what they can offer you.

Good advice changing out the CVT fluid. How many miles on your/her Patriot? The owners manual says to change the fluid at 100,000 or 120,000 but everyone on here says change it at half that interval.

Every used vehicle is sold for a reason, usually avoiding repair costs.
