Hey guys, I'm getting pretty desperate now and literally cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my window up in my 08 patriot. It died when the window was fully down and I cannot roll it up using the passenger or driver side switch.

I am able to get the first bolster off but after that I get completely lost and can't even find out how to access the motor, regulator or the window itself. I have looked at this thread a million times and quite honestly the pictures are gibberish to me.

If anyone could possibly make a video or take some better pictures on how to access the motor, regulator and "inside" parts of the door panel I would be forever in debt. It's getting quite cold here and I've been taping clear plastic over my window but a couple times it has come off while driving because it's too cold for the tape to stick. All I want is to be able to put the window all the way up and then not touch it until I am able to afford to get it fixed. I bought a new motor for it already so I will try installing it once I figure out how to access the damn thing.

Thanks please let me know if you need more info.

You have to pull the door panel completely off, most of it is plastic clips that need to be popped. If you search around you should be able to find instructions. goto crutchfield.com to see if they have a breakdown how to install front speakers. Same thing. You already have a new motor, it would be about 3 hrs labour for a local shadetree mechanic shop to swap it out and have it working. Are you sure its the motor?

Ok so today at work me and my colleague took a couple hours to work on it, we were finally able to find out how to get the door panel off and after some fiddling around we were able to push the window all the way up, once the window was up we tried pressing the window switch but the motor only spins when we press down but won't spin when trying to roll the window up, these results occured with the old motor and the new one..

My next best guess is that it's the switch, but its this possible because neither the driver's side or passenger side switch will roll the window up, they only work when you try to roll down, are they controlled by the same wiring?

Are you sure it's not the regulator assembly (the part that looks like gears)? I've never seen an inside of a Patriot door. I assume they use a plastic regulator with a couple gears?

You can buy a copy of the factory repair manual for it for like $5 off ebay. It will tell you exactly the procedures that have to be done (and what tools to use) to repair things like this. I bought the one for the PT Cruiser when my wife had one. Her PW wouldn't go up.

Just for anyone who happens to come across this thread, don't be discouraged because the Patriot is actually one of the few vehicles that does NOT have to have the door taken apart to change out the speakers! All you have to do is pop off the one cover over the speaker.

Cheers.

Is it all the windows or just one switch thats not working?

is it a wire connection to the control panel lever(switch) that needs to be replaced?

hopefuly ive worded everything correctly.

That's awesome! it is one of the few for sure! I worked doing installs during the car stereo boom of the mid 90s-2000s and every time we saw that we were like YEAH BABY!. My supercharged 2000 integra was a bitch. I had to pull the entire back seat panels to get the speakers changed in there. I had an awesome stereo in that one. Sold my factory stereo to Gil de feran's crew chief. I Got some goodies out of that one. Indy car / CART (when the cars were awesome, not now) engine parts, a few laps in their back up, race car, etc. It was an awesome experience.

I had a 1994 Ford Taurus that had a rear window that would go down but not up. The wiring in cars was much more complicated than I had expected, I imagine it's even worse now. I eventually traced it to a faulty ground wire in the driver's controls. Good luck

Ground is probably 70 percent of all electrical problems in autos.

Had the exact same problem and my friend found the easiest fix ever. All he did was try rolling the window up from the driver's side while juggling the keys up and down in the ignition. I haven't found this trick anywhere else and I searched through forums forever. Try it and see if it works for you, good luck!
