Is it ok to run 225/50/r17 tires on my 2015 Patriot Sport?

Original tire size is 215/60/r17. It would be temporary, until I can afford new tires.

They're wider but should fit, and they're not as tall so the speedometer will read faster than actual speed.

Mine came with 215/60R17, and I ran 225/60R17 for a few years with no issues. Odometer probably not off by more than a couple hundred miles right now, as the size difference was extremely minor.

My Patriot is supposed to have P205/70 R16 tires, but for some reason previous owner put on P205/60 R16s, which according to my research are a full 2 inches less in diameter than stock. Aside from the speedometer being off a few percent, there haven’t been any issues.

Within limits, you can use the JScan app to modify what tire size the Patriot thinks is installed. My tires are outside the pickable diameter range offered by JScan - I was able to get the difference down to 1 inch diameter, but again, no issues.
