Intake manifold persisting issues

Hey,

I have a 2011 Jeep Patriot with 145,000 miles on it. In April I got the following codes:

P2006
P2017
P161B
P2135
P02121

I took it to a reputable mechanic in my local area. They suggested a new battery and intake manifold. I went ahead and had them do what they suggested.

After they serviced the vehicle all of the codes went away. Then a month later the check engine light came back on. The only code showing was P2006. I moved away from the area so I was unable to return to the same shop. I’ve been driving the past few months with no issues, however the light is consistently on. So I decided to order a new intake manifold runner control valve (part #911-902) and decided to replace it myself.

When I pulled the old one out, the metal piece that opens and closes the intake manifold came out with it. I pulled it off and tested the old IMRC and it still seems to be in good shape and operational. So now I’m stuck wondering if the metal piece that goes into the intake manifold was incorrectly installed or if my issue is something electrical.

If anyone has any ideas or advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

On my 2008, there was an extra piece between the shaft and solenoid. It goes through a seal for the vacuum. But it just slots right back in to the same tongue and groove affair as the solenoid.

@todde702 I believe this is the same piece. It connects where the red circle (@Flyer58 ) is and is about 2 inches long. It has a rubber ring on it and fits into a slot that operates the manifold.

I replaced IMRC and the check engine light went away for about a week, and now it has come back on (P2006). So I'm not sure how to proceed.

With the IMRC off, the shaft should turn very easily using a small flat blade screwdriver. As in just two fingers on the handle, light pressure. It only turns about an 1/8 of a turn, maybe a touch more. Like Flyer58, I took my intake off, disassembled and cleaned all of it but I did have 3 IMRC's in total. One Amazon one went bad in a week, the second, made by Standard went bad in a month and the warranty replacement of that one is still working.
