I ordered this little guy from Amazon for 15 bucks. Haven't wired it in to the dash yet because it's too damn hard to see in the thunderstorm, and the damn Jeep flashlight back in the lift gate is worth than useless. I installed this on flat land, but am parked on a hill because I hate parking on pavement. But it works!

I doubt anyone would ever get a Pat in to the red on the gauge. This picture was taken with my Jeep parked on a 5% grade, and it's only a half click. I've calculated that it reads up to a 30% grade.

Do they make inclinometers where the dials show degrees or percentages of roll and pitch? I realize you can eventually get to know what the dials represent after some "field experimentation", but it seems less than ideal. Maybe you'd have to somehow calibrate the device to your particular vehicle, like you do an aftermarket compass, but at least you'd have a real measurement instead of a seemingly arbitrary scale.

I learned to drive off-road well before I ever learned on-road, and have always had something similar. I don't use it to gauge my decent.

This one I bought on Amazon for like $15 bucks. There is another model that has a compass (navigation type, not the jeep type) in the center, but from what I've heard from other Jeepers is that it's not accurate. This basically works the same way as a carpenter's level.

It won't replace good old common sense, but then again the same can be said for any instrument, gauge or readout system. (EVIC is a great example) I love the way it looks, and that little void right there to the left of the steering wheel seemed an ideal place to stick on.

My Montero has one of these from the factory. I always thought it was a neat gauge to watch occasionally, but I never put my Monty any place where I really needed it (the occasional parking lot snow pile). Cool find though and for $15 bucks, a nice cheap mod/enhancement!

Yeah, I want a few more gauges, like a coolant temp gauge, battery voltage gauge, transmission temp gauge, oil temp gauge, TP gauge (I don't have an EVIC) altimeter, and a barometer.
