Somebody's posted a while back that Jeep would have to go because the powers that be don't want an in-house competitor for Hummer. Surely this guy is taking the "gipsy's kiss" (as they say in Cockney rhyming slang) out of us. Hummers sell like, nowhere, outside the U.S as opposed to Jeeps (Well, I suppose a few million-dollar-a-week footballers/soccer players in Brazil, the U.K, Germany and Italy own one); but, trust me, that's absolutely it.
Jeeps are, by far, the most well-known of the Chrysler family outside America.
If you asked a European to name a Chrysler car that wasn't a Jeep he'd have less trouble naming a baseball player.
Say, that's an idea.I'll have a go: Babe Ruth? Joe di Maggio? That guy who plays in Houston...Biggio? Neon?

I'm fairly sure about the first three, but I'll have to Google the last one to be sure.

One of the reasons GM is in trouble is that they have allowed division infighting to ruin their business plans. A good example is the Pontiac Fiero. From what I understand, the original plans and prototypes had the Fiero as a direct competitor with Porsche and other performance mid engine sports cars. They engineered a suspension system and really had the first American vehicle of this type ready to go. Then the boys at Chevy got hold of the design and demanded that no vehicle would be built by GM that would out perform the Corvette. Long story short, the Feiro ended up as another wannabe, Pontiac almost a sports car.

Chrysler is just as bad. Many of us want a new Jeep pickup truck. But Chrysler won't build one because they fear Dodge competition. Idiots! So I keep driving my Jeep pickups from the 1980's.

So they dont make a 2010???? We end up witha Collectors Item???---Worth keeping hold of!!!

If they don't make a 2010 model, then our vehicles won't have any real worth as collectors items for years to come. Real collector interest is nonexistent when there's thousands upon thousands of something (a fact many Beanie Baby "investors" learned the hard way). Only when the vast majority of them have gone away will any serious value be attributed by them, and that's assuming the Jeep collectors decide they're worth collecting.

when i am 80...check

Only thing worth less will be Pi$$ and $hit.

okay, so according to Fiat they will stop with the 2011 or 2012 model...possibly 2013...

but it is getting closer to no 2010...still not seen one and it is june.
Chrysler always changes over in late July/early August?
There were no '09s in June of '08 were there?

IMO the 2010 will come out by winter or early spring, as there are still a ton of 09s in dealers' lot. With the plant still closed, & unfinished 09s inside, we will not see the 2010 for a long while. (Unless they re-badge the unfinished 09s as 10s?) then you might see them in the fall.

if Chrysler/Fiat can afford to change anything on the Patriot, they would be smart and do what other vehicle manufacturers do and change the tail lights and interior trim style. i don't see them changing the interior trim style since as we all know, it's all plastic...which would require new molds which require time and lots of $$$. i would expect to see a variant of the tail lights currently being used, not different shape, but different color styling. that requires little to no tool modification, in fact, if the only thing they are changing is the colorant then absolutely no tooling changes will be required.

or, they could just give up all hope and re-brand the 2009 models as 2010 models and instead of spend $$$ on actually making changes, just market the heck out of the "Rocky Mountain" edition model as something new when in fact it was introduced on the 2009 models.

at the end of the day, i would expect to see little change on the Patriot from Chrysler for the 2010 production year, if any.

the Italians only have one thing on their minds...and it's getting their product into this country as soon as possible (thus increasing their global market share) to help pay off the billions and billions in debt that they acquired when they "merged" with Chrysler. once this has been achieved, then you might start to see distinct changes to Chrysler's product line (not including re-branding though)

Well my guess is that if there are any changes on the 10 model year than it will be new colors only and perhaps the EV front bumper?

I totally agree, as for 09, they changed the interior & given more sound insulation; that should buy them some time & leave the 10 as is. Maybe change up the color?
After that, they can come up with a farewell version for the 2011 & 2012 with exterior upgrades, like the EV bumper, one touch electric windows, power driver seats, etc

unfortunately i don't even think the farewell version will be that glamorous. the last year of production will most likely see the least bit of effort on Chrysler's part...and as a final farewell Chrysler might just can the Patriot/Compass earlier than expected.

my hopes are not high on this one as it has become blatantly obvious how this will inevitably all "go down" so to speak...

I highly doubt that our Patriots will be worth more if they only make them for 3-4 years. All prospective buyers need to do is do a Google search of "Jeep Patriot Problems" and they will find hundreds of links to people with bad experiences with the Patriot. Flapping hoods and multiple leaks would be enough to scare away any buyer of a used car. Me personally have not had any problems with my Patriot and others on here are very happy with their purchase. Yes, I know that people are more likely to post things that are wrong more then people are going to post the good of the car.

I'm hoping they continue making the Pats for 2009 and 2010, b/c I placed a factory order for a 2009 RME Patriot last week! The dealership wasn't even sure if I would get a 2009 or a 2010 model. I guess it all depends on what they decide to date them when the assembly line starts back up. I'm sure the 2010 model will be the same as the 2009 model, maybe just more colour options.

For now, I just have to anxiously wait...

Prior to the BK shutdown, 2010 Patriot models were scheduled to start production on August 17th. A revised date has not been determined yet, but I expect that it won't be delayed all that much, maybe up to a few weeks.

The only new color I see on the 2010 list is Natural Green pearl Coat, and it will not be able until a little further into the model year. Active Head Restraints will be standard on all models. Air Conditioning with Auto Temp Control will be an option on the Limited ($155 MSRP).

Base price on the Sport 4x4 will be $19,485 (+ $630 destination). The Limited 4x4 will start at $24,490 (+ $630 destination).

Base price on the Sport 4x2 will be $17,735 (+ $630 destination). The Limited 4x2 will start at $22,740 (+ $630 destination).
