How much road noise in a Patriot

I am looking at buying a Jeep Patriot Limited in Mexico. The Limited is still available here. All Patriots sold here are front wheel drive, and have the 2.4 liter engine, manual or 6 speed automatic. They only have the two front air bags. I do not know what other differences there might be.

I have read that there is more sound deadening in the higher end models. I used to have a Honda Element, and the road/tire noise could be very loud and annoying. With our roads down here, I am concerned about how much road noise intrudes into the cabin. I am not a big fan of trying to drown out the noise with the radio.

I doubt if I would be able to get a good idea on a test drive about cabin noise. What have been your experiences? Do the High Altitude and Limited have more sound deadening insulation?

Thanks for any input. I am looking for a 2016 Jeep Patriot Limited

I have the 2012 Latitude. Due to a hearing problem, the road noise seemed excessive so I bought materials and soundproofed the 2 front doors, the front and rear floorboards, the front fenderwells and the spare tire area.
It really didn't seem to have much sound deadening material, I only saw a small square in each of the front doors.

I'll also say I didn't notice much difference afterwards either, but it's probably just me, I hear background noises better than I hear the person next to me speaking.

I don't get much wind noise, but as for road noise, tires make a huge difference. I had General RT43s on my Patriot and (loving husband that I am) I put them on Wifey's Patriot and put Her older OEM tires on mine. So I've had both General RT43s and Goodyear LS2s on my Patriot and the OEM Goodyear LS2s are much louder -- no question. Admittedly the LS2s are older and any older tires are louder than when they are new, except maybe AT or snow tires.

I have a 2015 high altitude with the 2.4 and 6 sp auto and I don't notice that much noise, but my driving is on the highway and no off road driving. It may be too that I have tuned the noise out or maybe I am taking the wife's suggestion--turn the radio volume up:grin2:
