Looks like I am joining the ranks of members who have sold their Patriot's. Mine isn't gone yet but I have an appointment tomorrow at 2PM to trade it and take delivery of a 2014 Cherokee. Barring some kind of problem like an accident( god forbid )my Patriot is gone tomorrow.

I have really enjoyed my time here for the most part. I have to say this is the most civil internet forum I have ever belonged to. Had a few run ins but overall I have really enjoyed my time here. I hope I contributed to the forum and helped out when and where I could. I tried to anyway.

I am not going to be gone for good but probably won't be here as much as time goes on. I wish you all well and hope you enjoy your Patriot's. Mine served me very well and I have no complaints. It was just time for me to move on to something else. I seldom keep a vehicle longer than 3 years so this is no indictment of the Patriot.

I wasn't going to buy a Cherokee in this 1st model year but got a deal I couldn't pass up. My dealer has been after me to trade my Patriot ever since I started looking at the Cherokees. I got a President's Day sale letter from them with great offers that sealed the deal so to speak. I have been following the Cherokee forums and the problems are minimal and have been taken care of so I will give a 1st year model another shot( 1st time I tried was a DISASTER  ).

So wish me luck. I didn't get exactly what I wanted but am happy with the one I got. I will add stuff to it to get it where I want as time goes on. I will post pictures after I pick it up.

Again, my best wishes to you all.

Sad but glad, eh?

Please do post your impressions of the new Cherokee.
My contract is winding down and the only two other guys have kids at home and mortgages so I think I will pass on renewal and let them work. Started out there were 7 of us, now down to three.

Anyway, that is all to get to I might be thinking of giving my Patriot to my wife and get myself into a Cherokee as well.

But not to steal your thread...this is all just idle thoughts at the moment.

Still...looking forward to your thoughts on your new vehicle for sure.

Good luck NH. Traded my Pat in 2011, but still lurk here since I maintain my daughter's 2011 Latitude.
I'll keep tabs on you on BITOG forum.

Congrats NH! Hope you really like your new Cherokee. Hate to see you spend less time on the forum. You have been a huge help in helping find a touchscreen radio for my '14 Patriot. I actually found a 2011 model 430 RBZ head unit today for $229 out the door! Looking forward to seeing your new ride. If the Patriot (and Compass) hold together I plan to be a long term member of the Patriot family.

Congrats and I hope they deal with you well....and of course, info on the Cherokee is appreciated. The Mrs keeps eyeing the new Cherokee....but fortunately, she's talking about trading her car so I still get to keep my Pat! :)

Thanks to all. I will stick around for sure.

Picked up the new ride about 30 minutes ago. Only was able to grab a couple quick crappy photos before having to run in to do the paperwork. I will post them below but will get better ones, including interior photos and a shot of the back end( forgot - sorry ), at a later date and post them up. I certainly will post up some reviews of the new Cherokee( will do it in the "Other Jeeps" forum )as well if people want to hear about it. Not a problem.

Couple quick things...

1 - The 3.2L V6 has some real get up and go. Yes I ended up opting for the V6 despite saying the 4cyl was enough( once you drive the V6 the 4 is NOT enough :D ). Definitely will make towing my boat easier. If I didn't tow I would have gone with the 4cyl as it is adequate for the vehicle. I have to admit I am also a sucker for dual exhaust which helped sway me to the V6.

2 - Steering is smooth and effortless.

3 - Very quiet - no intrusive road noise.

4 - I have the standard suspension but it is still pretty stiff. Glad I did not get the off road suspension.

5 - Got the 8.4A Nav Ready radio and had it activated as part of the deal. Unfortunately, I have to go back tomorrow to have it physically done as they don't do it until the papers are signed. Not a big deal just was a little disappointed I didn't get to play with the Nav.

6 - I feel like I am in some kind of hi-tech plane cockpit there are so many displays and buttons and switches and the like. Holy crap Batman. :wow: It is going to take a while to learn it all.

7 - OEM tires are 226/65R17 Firestone Destination LE2 just like I put on the Patriot. I am super happy to actually have a good OEM tire. I always end up having to replace the OEM's as 99.9% of the time they are junk. Got some good ones right off the bat so :smiley_thumbs_up::smiley_thumbs_up: to Chrysler for using quality tires.

8 - Originally I wanted to get the Alpine 9 speaker Premium Sound upgrade but it didn't work out( would have had to special order a vehicle to get it ). Turns out the stock setup is pretty good. I can always upgrade the speakers myself later on if I want.

That is about it for now. More in the days to follow. We have a big snow storm due to hit here Thursday so it won't take long to check out the 4WD and Selec-Terrain features. I am going out to play now :p...

I am not going too far away. ;)

One other quick note. Took a ride last night to do a shake down and decided to set up/pair my phone and try out the hands free. Man does it work AWESOME! The phone paired super easy and the call sound quality( for me and the person on the other end )is excellent. The voice command worked very well too. I read about some people having issues with it but it must be their phone. Works GREAT for me. :D

You will love the Cherokee.

My wife bought an ADII limted loaded right to the nuts only thing it doesn't have is the wireless charging pad.

Compared to my compass it's light years ahead and the 4x4 system is awesome. If I hadn't bought my compass recently (within 2 years) I would be all over getting the trailhawk version.

Enjoy your new jeep.

You always have thurough responses and are very helpful. Definately not afraid to speak your mind :) keep us posted and all the best to you!

I always rely on "Consumer Reports" in a negative way. I would never buy a POS foreign make of car that they highly recommend but I will take interest in a Jeep that they don't like. I remember many years ago when they made some brilliant statement like their 5'2" driver didn't like the seats therefore the whole car was no good. They didn't like XJ Cherokees when they came out either and I bought 4 of them over a 20 year period.

Heheh, I think I like reuters now, and Consumer Reports. Nothing personal against those who like the Cherokars, but to me it's a Fiat with a Jeep badge and 4x4 system. And, as I recall, Consumer Reports doesn't take sponsoring from anybody, so they aren't bashed for brand disloyalty if they don't like a product. One of my CrimJ professors mentioned that once.
