I should start by saying that if you are looking to see a “Pajama party Barbie Jeep” you my friend, should keep looking. If you are looking to see a short description of to the beast before you, I can offer you two words “MEAT & POTATOES”. This is the All American chariot of the free world. my friend this thing is a piece of red white and blue Americana Machinery. It has A/C but are you kidding me….Really! If you want to blow the sweat off your brow, you do it the old fashioned way, windows down. “What if it rains?”. . .You whiney bitch! I told you to stop reading this ain't no barbie jeep. Since starting the mods on my 4x4 Jeep patriot latitude I've noticed great improvements in my life, like i now have a pet T-Rex, i grow a beard daily, I'm on a meat only diet, i don't give a crap, i make more money, i can go places without roads, i get free dinner, and so much more. And I've only started mods on it, just think of the future.

Hmmm, interesting idea about modifying the liftgate, but it'd be tricky for sure. What if you split it at the bottom of the rear window, and had the bottom half open either like a truck tailgate or like a door, as with the Wrangler? Either way, it'd be tricky and should probably be professionally done, main problem would probably be getting a latch for the top half. Maybe have the bottom open first and have the latch for the top on the inside?

Welcome!

You might consider using the rear door frame guts from a 1st gen Liberty, as see if you could adapt them to the Patriot's hatch. At least you know they'll take the weight. If what youre after a method of mounting the spare to the back, consider getting a TAG rear bumper with the spare tire swing arm. Or see if you could adapt a similar mechanism into the existing bumper, perhaps.

@RossoRacer i figure itll be the challenge i like, ive gotta look more at my jeep when it isnt 20 degrees outside and dark but there may be a way to afixiate some sort of latchs, it will be tricky becuase i will have to cut/remold somthing in place of the plastic for the bottom half of the door, i was thinking of just having some really strong latchs down at the bottom sorta like sucide doors if that makes sense, so the window will just open to the side as well, the main reason is as nth256 says a tire mount i do like the the tire swings but if i can make my own custom way i wanna go that way, so ima explore all options on that 1st, i do like the idea of the two halfs apart that would lessen the weight ill see what i can draw up from that idea

@nth256 thanks ill have to look up those guts from liberty, it could be possible, and the TAG id like but idk if i can afford dumping a couple of grand at the moment with the other things i wanna do :p maybe when i get tax return. and i think the bumper already on the riot is too flimsy and weak to hold up to that weight.

thank yall for the ideas!

Some recent off roading pics (Saturday) had 3trucks, hummer, and the white cheerokee KL and my MK, went a few rounds in the mud pit, 1stuck truck and the KL now has a messed up tranny and won't shift from 2nd to 3rd, it's new so he's gonna take to dealer, my MK FDI, took the mud and water also all the bumps very smooth and didn't get stuck at all, she got super dirty and then I washed her but didn't get all the mud off, ima do another wash tommarow, was a fun adventure! Giant ORV park

dude. love the look of your jeep.

i have the same color. your's true blue right?

anyhow, i am wanting some tires and new wheels. i have the 17" wrangler sra and they are fine but want a better off road tire so need to go smaller like 16" or 15". why did you go 16" and not 15"? Just curious.

so no rub at all? is the new wheel/tire combo lighter than the old combo? same? heavier?

Thank you:) and no:( I got black I woulda got that but when I bought the jeep the only true blues where limited and I didn't have time to wait for a custom build (my tranny blew at dealership, which they didn't notice til after I talked my price down hehe) but I choose my 16" becuase only. Certain rims work at 15" I have no run unless I full lock then there's a little minor rub, but I hardly full lock it, the tires do great in litterly every weather I've been in (mud, snow, gravel, dirt, ice) also the rims when I bought were fairly cheap 38$ new at discount tire but they are heavier in the future I do want to get a better looking lighter rim, for now these work, also there is a 17" cooper at3 that should fit but I wanted to be able to air down a little if needed/wanted

Paint your brake calipers bright red for your black Patriot. I think it would look sweet! Doesn't cost much and is easy to do if you take your pads off.

Pretty sweet, I did the plastidipped eyes and I have been liking them. Saw the ABS plastic ones on Amazon buy they were around $60 and ship from HK lol.. Where did you get yours and have you had any issues keeping them on or anything?

RRO lift kit just ordered, a few other little things under the jeep to be changed like bushing and such for moog, may upgrade roof rack to rro adventure rack, and sell the reese setup (maybe in 2 months or so). taillight covers are a no go, its almost impossible unless its just for looks, just gonna tint them and the front signals as well, not blackout just tint, may be tinting the windows this monday and I've got a secret experiment in the works may or may not pan out. oh and still debating on rear amber turn signals

If you were looking for a tailgate of some sort to carry a spare tire etc, there are a couple that fit in the receiver hitch. One is very low profile and the spare just sits on it, and it folds down to open the hatch, or there is the tiregate, that one swings open. but is bigger and not as light. But their are options.
