2014 Jeep Patriot Sport w/120k miles unmaintained for most of its life. After searching the forum I can’t find too much info on driveshaft, specifically u-joint replacement. I recently replaced rear tires, wheel bearings, rotors, calipers, and pads. I still have a harmonic/hum/slight vibration that increases with speed that seems to becoming from the rear. What I would like to do is remove the driveshaft and drive too see if this is the source. Is this possible without leaking fluid. It seems drive shafts as a complete unit are plentiful, but u-joint part #’s are not. Thanks in advance for any input.

I know this is a lte response, but I’ve been looking around and doing some research. For the years 2007-2017, the drive shaft part number 5273310AB is applied in the Compass, Patriot, and Dodge Caliber. Even with a search expanded for those criteria, I have not found anything else except for what Sandstone posted. I think next week when I have some time, I’ll go to the pick n pull and get a u-joint off of one of those vehicles, measure it out, and find an similar sized part if possible. I feel like a replacement joint is a secret mopar is holding close to the chest because their drive shafts are expensive…

I'm currently experiencing similar issues. I believe my rear differèntial is bad. My jeep compass 2013 has a sound of a wheel bearing turns out I had no differèntial fluid in the jeep and it was stuck in 4 wd. Had pull the fuse to get to disengage itself. I also at times will lose power while acceleration usually 2 gear into 3rd. I have a manual transmission. Need to figure out if I should have differèntial rebuilt or buy a new one or buy a new ass end of my jeep. My cv axel is also bad plus there is something going n on with driveshaft rear and possibly had u joint. I need some serious help cause I'm bout to catch the car on fire and push over a cliff.

If the differential is damaged from running dry, and the ECC unit (electric clutch) on the front of the differential isn't disconnecting properly, it may be better to find another RDU assembly from a donor vehicle and swap the whole thing, along with the drive shaft assembly.
