Hey gang, had a crazy idea. I had a thought to change the color of my gauges from stock to red.
Anyone have any idea how involved this would be? Is it possible?

IIRC, all the gauge illumination is from LEDs that are soldered to the circuit board(s?) in the instrument cluster. While theoretically possible to change over to red LEDs, I highly doubt it is doable, practically speaking.

One thought that I had was to put a red film over the front of the instrument cluster. However, it might be too dark for daylight (non-illuminated) use.

It’s cheap, and you could try it out on the instrument panel before committing to pulling the instrument cluster to get a more professional look.

Instead of replacing the LED's you might be able to overlay them with red lens material.

Keep in mind that if you want to replace your instrument cluster, you need to match the part number. For educational purposes or practice before tackling the real thing, the P/N shouldn’t matter (much?).
