Firstly...yes, I have read all those other threads by you guys regarding your CVT issues but I haven't been able to find my particular problem...

At around 2000-3000rpm I get a whirring sound from the car (99% sure its the CVT). It will sound like it's about to start screaming at you if you go any higher.
It occurs mainly on the freeway or on light inclines at speed of 60km/s +.

The noise is the most prominent near the end of the recording

I only have this recording of it atm and I would suggest either put headphones in or turn your speakers up but it should give you an idea of what I am hearing :(
Warranty ran out only last month aagh I'm gonna chat to the dealer this week about it and see wat they can do.

Transmission fluid change is usually what does the trick. you might be low or it might be old. but the cvt is sensitive to its fluid as it sprays it on the belt. Too low or to worn out, and it foams and what you hear is the pump sucking bubbles/air and not fluid. at least that's the issue/fix I've seen most common on this site.

aroundincircles,

Thanks for the insight! Getting the fluid (and I think there is a filter too) changed will be my immediate move on this.

For further detail on my particular issue for others who may be experiencing it, my whirring sounds only happens after the vehicle has been running for a while and is warmed up, it is rather quiet and the whirring sound volume is in unison with accelerating especially when accelerating up hills or passing someone. And as Creation stated it does sound like a tiny turbo.

It also occurs when I am in park and depress the accelerator after the engine has been running for a while and turning the steering wheel does not affect the sound at all, so I did rule out the power steering pump.

Thanks again roundincircles, I'll be calling my Jeep Dealer today.

Update,

I had the transmission service completed on Tuesday January 21st. The whirring noise hasn't happened again, but I haven't been on any real long drives yet. Regardless the transmission checked out and I have new fluid, filter etc so that feels good since I'm the second owner.

It the noise comes back it is no worry to me now, wasn't much of one to begin with, but I'm just paranoid...
