@ csowers

Ya, it was a nice moment when I finished bolting it (without the spacers) and it was exactly where it was suppose to be, fit like a glove... I put all my weight on it and it didn't move.

I have no experience with bed liner... does it come in spray? if not would I end up with brush strokes?
Ya, Canadian Tire.

Normal rattle can. Grab one of the plastic trigger handles if you don't already have one...it improves your spray technique immensely.

My vote would be powder coat followed by spray bed liner.

Powder coat will cost money tho.

So Bed Liner...

I'll be better prepared on the second coat, I think. Pretty sure I didn't shake the can enough, does it always come out like spit?

Had to dab away a few drips but I think were still good. The handle work real good (thanks Metaxa!).

Any advice with the Bed Liner would be appreciated...

Sorry, I meant to say it comes out of the can like spit. I didn't shake enough before the first coat. Second coat went much better, it would have been a good idea to practice on something else first.

I was expecting something much thicker to come out when I started spraying, turns out this stuff is thinner than paint and runs very easily on vertical surfaces. I took the legs off and laid it on it's side so I could spray it while it's flat instead. It will go mush slower this way but no sense in rushing at this point.

It's still wet and looks glossy on the pictures but it dries to a flat, textured finish (I know this cause someone sprayed the shelf in the store). It's also black when your looking at it. I'll grab a photo of it tomorrow morning before heading off to work.

They are forecasting rain for the entire weekend and most of the week here but today was sunny and 22 degrees C so I took the afternoon off work and installed the brackets.

First I made these,... (I will scan those and clean them up)

Then I installed the brackets, finished painting them and Fluid Filmed every piece of metal I could see (including the inside of the bumper along with the center of the bolts)

These 2 shots are upside down, they are shots of the inside of the bumper. Bolts holding the top brackets... When u'r painting them, you don't really see what your doing.

And then I added a couple more coats of Bed Liner. Same sides as yesterday, I have a feeling it will need to dry a couple days before I can flip it and lay it on the painted surface so I'm gonna be flipping only once.

Thanks. Yea, I have to admit, it does look amazing (at least in my living room).

Not bad for $100 worth of aluminum, a few pieces of scrap steel and $32 worth of Bed Liner. I'm still on the first can (3 coats left to do on the other side).

Time & labor well,... still worth every minute.

Yea, it looks all blotchy when it's wet but evens out as it's drying.

Great stuff, I'm considering doing my rims with it.
