another week, another issue...
& this one left me stranded in a busy car park requiring recovery
symptoms: failed to turn, failed to jump & failed after trying to rock the starter in gear (thought it might have stuck) ...once home, managed to bump start- so suspected starter/ starter relay
managed to find the relays (down behind the headlight: but only jeep would think it a good idea to require removing the front wheel arch to gain proper access) & pulled what i thought was the starter relay & greeted with the above & the pin so corroded it got left behind in the relay box
managed to get the relay box out today, hoping i could just remove the bad pin - but the female connector has also gone & oxidised to green dust (hoping i can just splice in a new 4.8mm female spade connector & fit into the relay box- otherwise im going to have to splice & mount whole a new relay
also checked the other relays- 3 out of 5 also showing signs of oxidisation (so got set of 5 on order) but after a spray of contact cleaner thankfully the connectors in the block seem ok
so i'd advise at least all UK'ers to to check their relays at some point & catch the corrosion before it gets too bad
