Basic Stereo Upgrade

Two days ago, I became the new owner of a 2015 Patriot Sport. Already very happy with my new purchase, except for the stereo. I am not audiophile, but I do love my music. I am looking to put in just a basic replacement for the system and don't mind doing the installation myself. Crutchfield is running some good deals, and I just wanted to throw out the list of the items I am looking at and see if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions. I want to stay inexpensive, but not cheap. I do not need an exhibition stereo either. Between my kids and myself, we listen to everything from 50's Jazz to 90's Grunge to the current radio hits, so I want a balanced sound. Any thoughts and input is appreciated.
JVC KD-X320BTS
Digital media deck. I don't need CD's at all, but do want Bluetooth and/or iPhone support

JVC CS-V6938
6x9" 3-way speakers, 4 of them total for front and rear.

Considering a powered sub, not for hip-hop thump, but just for full sound.
Bazooka BTA850FH
8" sub, 50 watt

Thank you again for any ideas and comments.

I have a Kenwood radio with Alpine speakers. Sounds pretty good. A couple of things I don't like:

1. There is a noticeable hiss when the unit is on but not playing any media.

2. In order to adjust the bass or treble you have to go deep into the menu, which is kind of a hassle when one is parked and I would not recommend even trying while driving. I would have been much happier if it had knobs for sound adjustment.

I would highly recommend listening to speakers before buying your ears will tell you alot more than others reviews and/or price, I chose Alpines SPE-6090's over the higher priced type S 3 ways because to my ears they sounded better. A good 50watts rms 4 channel amp may suit you better than the 8" bazooka. 6X9's can and will produce good bass with clean strong power.
I have always liked bazooka's concept and they do sound decent. But alot of ppl blow the sub because they do sound good and want more then try to get more out of it than what it is capable of.
Pioneer double din radios do not fit thru the opening of the dash bezel even with the kit it leaves gaps on each side of the radio.

That'd be cool, too bad that radio cost more than my entire system. :) Really wish they could/would make a reliable factory fit radio with nav, dvd, 3 sets of preamp outs etc. For under $400.00 I'd be in. then but to pay $700 & up for a factory unit with none of the after market goodies. I'm afraid to try the chinese radios.

Highly suggest the JensenVX7020

Run these speakers- JBL GTO938
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_17736_JBL-GTO938.html

And wire in a 4-channel amplifier, and I promise you you wont need that bazooka 8" sub. The Patriot's doors create an amazing bass chamber, use that to your advantage. I'm running these 6x9's in the back of my G35 and it sounds like I have a sub (when my real sub is turned off). I have Rockford Fosgates in my Patriot. They are a bit pricier for the same performance, but it really really sounds like I have a subwoofer in that Jeep when I don't. I stand behind the JBL's 100% for performance over cost!

IMHO with the upgraded Jensen HU you don't need to upgrade the OEM speakers, I say give it a try first before thinking about the speaker replacements ... you will be pleased IMHO.
