I'm curious if anyone is running this size without a lift. Diameter is 29.3in. If you have pics that would be awesome. Also did you have to add spacers or do modifications?

I did a trial fit with the 225/75-16s off our Wrangler. No go. Sitting still they barely fit, but any bumps or body roll and it was out of the question.

I've been chastised by others on this site for discouraging this size, because my Patriot isn't lifted -- its straight stock. Also, later years set an inch higher. I doubt that inch would make a difference but I can't say for sure. My problem was the back of the tire rubbing on the inner fender well.

I'd suggest you do what I did: mount a single tire as an experiment and see what kind of clearance you have. Would it still clear on a rough road, or a hard steering and braking situation? A kid on a bicycle, a bouncing ball, wildlife in the road -- you stomp on the brakes and yank the wheel . . . and rip out your fender well, destroy a tire, or both. Even if you didn't have the accident, it'll cost you some bucks.

I really wanted to use up those lousy tires on my Patriot (I didn't want Wifey on them), but it wasn't worth the risk to put that size on my Patriot.

Basically I need something a little aggressive that can handle the logging roads her in the low country. I have a 2012 with no lift. Standard base model. Any help would be appreciated. The size in question I was looking at everything from the wranglers mt to hankook. I have had some ATs that get clogged up.

I'm not a fan of the Soft 8s because of weight, but a lot of guys run them.

Here are the wheels I just picked up to run. The tires are junk so I'll be replacing them. 16x7 5 inch backspacing of a 1998 Grand Cherokee Limited. (They are called ultrastars.)

They will basically be perfectly flush, no poke but not tucked in like stock.

I guess I'm contradicting myself after all the comments I made earlier in this thread. Here is a picture of my 2008 Patriot wearing 225/75-16s. No lift. I had my doubts, but after doing a trial fit I changed my mind and figured I'd risk it. They came off our Wrangler (Wife did not like them) and I couldn't see wasting the rubber that was left. I did get a minor rub when turning while backing up on bumpy surfaces, like from my gravel driveway onto the paved road. There were some serious ruts there and the vehicle rocked so I had to take it slow. The rub seemed to be from the back but it was so slight I never thoroughly investigated. I never had any rubbing under normal circumstances. I'm a pretty conservative driver so the tires & suspension were never getting stressed at all.
