I know you all must be tired of me by now. Wife wants to go to a stealership tomorrow to test drive a 2008 Patriot back to back with a 2008 Liberty. Aside from the fuel economy, why would I want the Patriot instead of the Liberty? Below you will find the basics:
2008 Patriot Limited, FDI, 14,937 miles. I'm not sure what was optional on this trim so I'll just hit the highlights, heated leather seats, cruise, fogs, sunroof, Asking $18,999. KBB suggests $19,745
2008 Liberty Sport, auto, 4x4 (not sure if it's command trac or selec trac, if it's not slec trac I ain't buying it), 37,853 miles. Again I don't know the options so here are the highlights for me: Sky slider roof.... yep that's about it. It has the 6 disc changer which I think included more speakers and some OEM side steps which look nice and I think my wife will like that, but everything else I pretty much expect to be standard fare on any modern vehicle. Asking $19,999, KBB suggests $18,810.
So basically I expect to be able to get either of these for about the same price. Gas milage, I know it's going to come up, the EPA guestimates the averages to be 5 mpg more in favor of the Patriot. They guestimate the annual fuel cost difference to be about $700. It'll probably be higher in my life. But I'm aware of this, I'm wondering what other reasons you might have for Patriot over the Liberty, or vice versa if you have any.
