Accessory drive belt

I have a 2007 Patriot, 2.4 engine, 5 spd with 94K miles on it. I'm thinking of changing the belt when I feel like getting dirty.

Any tips or comments?

Thanks.

I usually do things before they need to get done, especially when it's something relatively easy. What's the recomendation on the timing belt? That's a little bit more complicated than changing a drive belt and don't want to mess with it if I can go a little longer.

Thanks.

All I-4 Hondas use the chain. I'm not sure about other makes of vehicles though...

Y'all are WAY off... DavidAl was asking about the ACCESSORY belt, not the timing belt (which, we have once-and-for-all determined, is a chain).

Seeing as how I'm at 91K I'm interested in an answer as well. The manual says it should be replaced at 60k IIRC; can anyone confirm? Anyone have tips regarding the ORIGINAL question?

re-read my first post - we are talking about both the acc belt AND the timing belt.....

and by the way, i have a timing BELT......so do hundreds of thousands of us who own the Patriot / Compass / Caliber diesel

also, every petrol car i have ever owned has had a BELT

and over here (yes i know your world stops at your borders) our acc belt doesn't have a time/distance replacement, it's just when required, hence my very first words on this post "does it need changing?"

Wow, such snark...

Admittedly, I had no idea the CRDs ran a timing belt. If Chrysler saw fit to sell one here, I might be on par with your knowledge of the CRD layout, but alas, I'm another ignorant Yank, right?

As for "every other petrol car"... I've owned an even number with timing belts vs timing chains, so for what it's worth, so I guess that's a point wherein you're slightly more ignorant than I, yes?

Regardless of who's swinging a bigger d!ck between you and I, the original question pertains to the 2.4L gas (er, petrol) engine. I wasn't knocking you for asking him about his timing belt. But the discussion after the first two or three responses simply turned into a confirmation of chain, not belt, for timing purposes. However, the topic of the article reads "Accessory Drive Belt", which nobody seemed to respond to. As I have a vested interest in this discussion re: accessory drive belt replacement, I was simply trying to nudge the conversation back in that direction.

But it's cool, call me ignorant for knowing nothing about the CRD.

Anyway, "bygones" and all that jazz, right?
