I have just purchased a 2014 patriot latitude. It was in a crash but no drive train was affected. Vehicle drives fine but there is a noticeable "clunk" when taking off from a stop. In gravel, the front tires will spin but gives audible clunks in rear-end and rear-end does not engage. Acts exactly the sane whether in 4wd lock or not. I have no warning lights on at all. I did put all tires in the air and put in drive. In both regular position and 4wd lock I can stop one of the rear wheels with a block under the wheel but not both.

Is this a differential issue, electrical issue or something else. I'll admit I am not good at diagnosis but I have a complete parts rig and can replace parts if I know what's wrong. Any info will be helpful

Fuse #2 supplies power to the AWD control module and the electric clutch (sends power to the rear wheels) mounted to the rear differential.

Check and see if it's good.

If so, try pulling it and see if it makes any difference.
I have pulled it and it's good but I have not tried to see if anything is different. Will do that and get back to you

So pulled the fuse. While on jack stands there was no difference. Out on the road it is front wheel drive only but no popping noise when front tires are slipping in the gravel. So would this be electrical or is the ecc or rear diff screwed up? I bought this car from a salvage yard after it was wrecked. Dunno if when they pulled it in from the crash if they wheel lifted the front or hauled on flat deck. I'm hearing that could mess up rear diff. Thoughts?
