So my jeep came with the tire and wheel upgrade. The tires I have now are the OEM good for a year sea wranglers. 28" diameter. So stock.

At 37000 miles I have noise and about 3-4/32 left all around on the treads. I was happy with them for beach and even my cabins road which is creek gravel but now have a vibe at 70mph or higher. I normally go no faster than 70 though. Anyhow I am tire shopping and the only option I seem to have for off road type tires is what I have. The gy wranglers. Inam considering on going to a 225/65/17 tire to get the geolander at. That tire is .5 inches more diameter but seems the closest I can get to stock to get a better all terrain tire.

Will dealerships freak over this? I read it wont rub. I want something more rugged for that cabin road. Are there closer to stock better choices? Remember I want to use this sometimes to get up the cabin road in 4x4. Its a stick too so I might lose a little low end grunt going up due to a bigger tire albeit by not much? Thoughts?

Would I be better off warranty wise going to a 16" wheel then getting a tire that's as close to 28" and 8.5" wide? If so, any suggestions?

Fyi, my other ride is a 2007 xterra. I put the next size tire on it way back in 2008 and its a Lt tire to boot so heavier than what it came with. 127000 miles and going string. I usually drive it to cabin.

Jeep is good for just me and one kid or me and the girl to go up there.

Comments or thoughts??

Thanks!

Have you rotated your Goodyears at all during the +30,000 miles you report?

One member here reported rubbing at or near full lock with those very Geolander tires in that very size even with CRDSTU coils. Others will report no rubbing at all.

Some of us have contacted Cooper Tire and requested they offer the Discoverer A/T3 in our OEM size of 215/65R17 and responses from factory reps suggest that Cooper is listening and marketing is considering offering the size very soon. There is a thread here about it. The Discoverer A/T3 is simply an outstanding A/T tire.

Yes rotated normally till 20k miles or so then developed a hard pull to right. Wasn't alignment. Moved front tire to left and vice versa and kept them on same sides since. Rotated back to front and front to back. Been smooth but did notice a whirring noise only on left turns when in gear in augn2013 when it was only 6 months old. That has gotten worse and the last rotation took care of it for about 1000 miles then it came back. Could be a belt or something wearing funny. Kinda turned off on these OEM tires due to that experience. Now the vibes. Maybe its a wheel bearing?? If I change to diff size and bearing is the issue I wonder what dealer will try to blame??? Maybe best to see if cooper steps up with the OEM size or just go to a darn good year again.

I've got the 225/65R17 Geolandar tires in mine and have had no issues performance or warranty wise.

Just be careful if you are in a cold climate. They are a hard tire and get really slippery in the cold. I won't be buying these again because I live in Winter all the time it seems.

Probably just get some nice 235/65R17 all seasons as my wife drive the Patriot mainly now and I have my JKU for off roading. But I would be interested in Wrangler DuraTracs (I have heard nothing but swell things about these tires) and possibly drop the rim size to a 16" or 15"!! Who knows, but Tyler-98-W68 has some sweet 15" rims and tires now.

I see a few tire places online have them listed in 225/65R17's but everywhere says back ordered.

I was going to go with Geolanders until I saw that the BFG's might be available soon.

Does anyone have the BFG KO2's yet and if so are they rubbing? Pics?

Just got a 2014 Pat Latitude FDI and the stock tires are just not the ticket as I drive about 1000 miles a month on dirt.

My stock tires wont make it till then. If they had our size now I wouldn't be going to a 16" wheel and Yoko ats.
