Wondering if anyone had problems when driving your jeep with it trying to shift into manual while driving in automatic?
Just bought it low mileage.

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. I presume you have the 6-spd automatic and I'm not familiar with that. I believe if you move the shift lever to the left you should go into "auto-stick" mode, that is, you can select the gears manually. If you move the lever to the right, you should be back in full automatic mode. Is that not happening?

Please forgive me, I see you're new here. Welcome! I hope my post is helpful, or that someone else may better understand your problem and they can help. Again, welcome!

Sorry, it’s difficult to explain. Yes, it’s the 6 speed. But I drive it in automatic. I’ll be driving (doesn’t happen all the time) and it will switch gears then start revving up. Wondering if I’m doing something wrong? The stick is not being touched when this is happening. I took it to a mechanic and he said he couldn’t find anything wrong with it. So it had to be something I’m doing🤷‍♀️
Thank you for your reply

The Patriot engine isn't really a powerhouse. It may be that it's hunting for a lower gear to maintain your speed on an incline. If you're used to vehicles with a higher power/weight ratio, the Patriot may be shifting more than you're used to. If you're using cruise control it will downshift when descending a hill to hold you back -- the lower gear will make your engine run faster.

If your engine is just revving like it's in neutral, then you've got a problem. Not to worry, I haven't seen many problems with the 6-spd automatic on this site. This may just be a quirk in the design you're not familiar with.
