2017 Disc Brake wire Clips

Hi, I have a 2017 Patriot and had a friend change out the front pads and rotors for me. When putting on the new pads, there were no little holes on the top of the new pads for where a spring clip went that was on the old pads. He said I didn't need them and put the new pads on without them. After a week, my brakes seem to be sticking and are actually slowing the car down. I can feel it when I'm coming to a stop as I can release the brakes and the car will still stop. I don't know if a caliper is sticking or if it is because those spring clips were no put back on. It seems to be the right side that is grabbing. I watched a YouTube video that showed a guy not reusing them also. Any thoughts on those wire spring clips? Unfortunately, the clips were thrown away and looking online, I can't find them. Do you think it's a caliper sticking or the fact the clips weren't put back on? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The clips are primarily for holding the pads tight so they don't rattle.

Presuming the pins are in good shape and properly lubed, it could be the caliper sticking or a bad brake line acting like a check valve, holding pressure and keeping the caliper engaged after the pedal is released.

There's a few youtubes on how to diagnose:

I don't understand this description. Maybe he is talking about the wear indicator spring that makes the cricket noise? I cannot imagine he is talking about the stainless clips that the pad ears ride in. Sometimes rust will "grow" under these stainless clips and prevent movement of the pads. Otherwise, the suggestions above about possible causes of sticking pads are spot on.
