2016 Patriot Heater blowing cold air - but A/C works properly

Hi, new here and not very mechanically inclined. As the title says, my 2016 Patriot only blows the same lukewarm temperature air no matter how far I have the heat temp knob twisted. The A/C does work properly. We live in a pretty warm climate (Sacramento area), so it's not a big deal except those few weeks when our mornings get down into the 30's during Dec-Feb. Any easy fixes I can try without taking it to a mechanic?

This post rang a bell when I read it as I bought a 2010 Patriot about four years ago with the same problem. IF my old mind remembers correctly I traced the problem to the water control valve. That's the valve under the hood, on the passenger side, that controls the hot water to the heater core. For some reason the valve would not allow hot water to the heater core. Again my memory tells me that I could not find a reasonably priced OEM valve so I bought a generic control valve off Amazon. I had to do a little re-routing of the heater hoses but I made it work, , ,

Unfortunately, there isn't a valve that controls the water to the heater core.

If the coolant isn't low and there's hot coolant circulating to the heater core, (check both pipes going into the heater, both should be hot), then the blending door or it's actuator may be stuck or the actuator is non-functional.
