OK, when it rains it pours... Dead battery this morning. Curious to know if there are any, " issues," with replacing the battery on a 2014 Jeep Patriot?

I've disconnected the battery plenty of times with my 2011 FDII without any issues except that I lose all my radio presets each time. That said, I have the base stereo (CD/AM/FM), not a Uconnect unit. If your stereo has a little TV on it, it's probably worth checking the owners manual to see if you have other considerations like activation codes and such.

IF that's the case, it's a perfectly normal pull and replace. I've taken my battery out repeatedly to fart with the wiring harness and soup can oil cooler. Only issue has been remembering what the freq is for my favorite stations.:wink2:

I needed a replacement for a relatively new Costco battery--however the store I was at when battery failed didn't stock that model--I guess Costco does stock items based upon geography for some reason. Anyway, I got a battery which was more capacity than the one that is stock--however, it was a little too large for the battery box at the bottom.

I took that battery, didn't secure it and left the air intake off, an when I got home, used my Dremel tool to remove 1/4" of material at the bottom of the battery box. Never another battery problem for the next 50K miles until I traded.

I always suggest to find the largest battery that you can fit--normally Interstate makes odd-ball sizes for industry-so shop around--if you have time! Good Luck!

My guess is you got that battery changed quickly. Radio probably didn't have a chance to lose its settings. I've run down the battery a few times and lost all my stations, but it was over a period of a day before I got it fixed.

A Wally-world battery should last you at least several months. LOL. Now you've practiced the drill and you can change out the battery even faster next time!

Johnson Controls does not sell a battery with their own brand name that I am aware of. I also have not found any evidence (pro/con) that there is any difference between the many brands that Johnson Controls batteries are marketed under. Same for Deka, the other outstanding battery manufacturer.

You cannot paint with such a broad paintbrush about the quality differences between name brand and private label. WIX oil filters tend to be less dollars than NAPA Gold, yet they are the exact same product with different labels. I have other examples - I'm waiting for my brain to catch up, LOL.
