2011 Jeep Patriot Latitude (not X) VIN = 2011 JEEP PATRIOT SPORT???

This is a technical question, specific to 2011 Jeep Patriots. SHORT VERSION: Although Jeep.com lists 3 models/trim levels for the Patriot (Sport, Latitude, Latitude X) – or 4 if you also count Latitude X 70th Anniversary – for VIN designation purposes are there only 2 Patriot models: the Sport and Latitude X? Put another way, does a Latitude (not X) model/trim level, have the same VIN designation as a Sport?

LONG VERSION: On Saturday 4/9, I negotiated for and purchased what I believed to be a 2011 Jeep Patriot Latitude (not X). We wanted leather seats, which are being installed and we are to pick up the vehicle this evening 4/13. The vehicle we purchased has “Latitude” badges on the exterior of the vehicle. I have a copy of the Chrysler Group LLC invoice listing a “Customer Preferred Package 26B” (what the dealer has told me is the “Latitude” package”). I also have a copy of the Options Report from Chrysler to the dealer itemizing the “Customer Preferred Package 26B.” Part of the 26B package, which is listed on the Options Report, is “MTMP, Latitude Badge.”

In arranging for insurance for my new Latitude (not X), I wanted to verify the VIN and entered it at carfax.com. The listing carfax.com returned stated “2011 JEEP PATRIOT SPORT”. Knowing I negotiated for a regular Latitude, and not a Sport, I checked all of the paper work from the dealer. It all listed “2011 Patriot” without further designation. I do not have a copy of the window sticker and the dealer could not retrieve it when I called, as the vehicle is still in the window at the shop getting leather. The dealer told me that all of the Latitude (not X) models on his lot would have Sport VIN numbers.

I have called Chrysler/Jeep corporate sales and customer care. They also had access to the Chrysler Group LLC invoice and Options Report, I was referencing. Their initial responses are that the Latitude is a SEPARATE model/trim level from the Sport AND that the 26B package is not a package for a Patriot Sport model/trim level. While they were not certain, they believe that Latitude (not X) model/trim levels would have “Sport” designations associated with their VINs. Because the customer care center could not give me a 100% answer, they escalated my issues to a case manager and are supposed to contact me within 24 hours.

If there are any 2011 Latitude (not X) owners out there, please check your VIN and let me know what model designation is returned when you enter it on carfax.com or other similar VIN look-up sites. Also, if you know, was your 2011 Latitude (not X) upgraded with a 26B package?

I would appreciate any additional info? I’m super excited about getting my new Jeep, but want to be certain I am getting what I negotiated for.

Thanks in advance for your time in reviewing this lengthy post.

I had the same question with my 2011 Jeep Patriot Latitude with package 26b, when my insurance policy came in showing a "sport" I posted a thread about it, you can see here. http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69326
I was told that "It is a Sport.... Latitude is basically just an edition or special value package" so I left it at that, hopefully, god forbid, should I have an accident it will be covered with no issues.

Similar story: I ordered a Latitude. Came in with Latitude badge and Latitude on the window sticker, but insurance company calls it a Sport.
I do remember that to get the same configuration that I built for myself on jeep.com starting with a Latitude, the dealer had to start with a Sport and build it up from there - he couldn't get the same package by starting with a Latitude on the Chrysler configurator.
I'm not losing sleep over it - got all the options that I wanted, and nothing that I didn't.

I have a 2010 Latitude and my title says Sport. It also says its a station wagon so...

x2. If the VIN matches the insurance company's VIN I think you should be OK.

Try to find a "Latitude" on a Jeep dealership inventory website. You will find Sport and Latitude X versions. No Latitude version.

It is common for Jeep vehicles. The Liberty is the same way, while there were 9 different editions of the KJ (Sport, Limited, Renegade, Freedom, Colombia, 65th Anniversary, Latitude, Special Edition and Rocky Mountain Edition) OFFICIALLY they are all Vin'd as Sport, Renegade or Limited Edition. The reasoning for this is that when Jeep makes these 'special trim levels' they start with one of the basic trim levels (usually Sport) and add the extra equipment to it to make the 'special' trim.

I purchased a 2011 jeep patriot that was clearly painted (title says silver but it's white) and it has absolutely zero emblems of any kind on the outside. The ONLY thing that says "jeep" is the steering wheel and center caps. I'm trying to order tires and it is asking me if it has latitude or sport trim..I looked up the VIN report and by trim it says Continuously variable transmission. Well, they ALL have that. How can I tell which one I have? (Also there was no book or any info with the jeep when I got it...)

Thanks that's exactly what I needed. Crazy thing is...it says it only came with 4 speakers but there's actually 6 stock bose speakers and a stock Amp under the back seat. When I got it..the title said it was silver but it's white with black trim. All the stickers on the inside of the door are where/as they should be. There's not one single emblem (badge?) on the outside other than the center caps on the wheels. There's not a place where any used to be either. It was a rental vehicle before it came to me. When I bought it they told me it was a blackout edition. A lot of people look at me crazy when I say that but they did make a handful of them in 2011. I'm just still trying to figure out what I have 😆

What color is the engine bay? Or the insides of the door jambs? Those areas are almost never painted when a vehicle is repainted. What color does the build sheet say it is? It's listed under Optional Equipment. The radio/speakers would be under that section as well, but might be listed as a Customer Preferred Package or as the Sun and Sound package if you have a sunroof. It's also possible that the color is listed wrong on the title.
