You were told who it was?

Are you saying this honest, church going person didn't leave their own information?

I'm shocked.
It was a 17 year old girl, who was freaking out, having no idea what to do. the person who told me, saw it, knew it was my car, so offered to tell me for her and to help her know what she needed to do.

Not a ton of damage, but it will still be a pain to deal with. It is the bumper wheel and a small part of the door. The biggest issue will be matching my custom pin stripes.

Lol, custom pin stripes being the ones you so carefully applied on mile after mile of Arizona trail? Yeah, that's hard to match, but it might be wise to have the thing repainted or something soon anyways. Might not be as much potential for rust out there, but still.

Why will the insurance (hers) not pay for the full repair?

And, that really seems like a poor lesson in responsibility for that 17 year old.

I hope everything works out for you.

How is it a poor responsibility? He saw a girl who's never been in an accident, he told her to leave a note (which she did) he told her to make sure she had her insurance card, (which she did) he told her to find me (which she did) and to talk to me about it (which she did) he told me to expect it and to make sure I didn't freak out on the girl (which some people do when they find out they've been in an accident). I think it was a very kind thing for him to do for her.

The heat of the day allowed the bumper to pop back into place, so right now its just a big scratch with a scratch on the door too and some damage to the wheel. I think, if just the wheel is damaged. when its time for new tires, I'll get new rims too, and just pocket the money... what ever I get. or use it to pay off the jeep a little quicker.

and he wasn't talking about a full repair, he was talking about getting enough money to buy a tag bumper instead of just a like repair. Which honestly wouldn't look good, a freshly painted bumper would look funny on my scratched up patriot.

Good trick. Maybe God is watching over that good church-going girl. I had a dent pop out once, just by letting it sit in the autumn sun. For those of us in colder climates, a hair-dryer might warm it up enough.

Insurance companies generally look for any reason not to pay out. This was obviously an Act of God, which is specifically mentioned on nearly all policies as an uninsured occurence. Pray that the insurers don't realise where it happened.

Sorry for the mis-interpretation. Your second reply includes much more information. This one above implies that she freaked out and passed on the responsibility to someone else.

My wife and I witnessed a car accident in front of a church parking lot once and gave truthful witness testimony to the police (a U turn causing someone else to go into a ravine to miss them). A few weeks later, the perpetrator (an old couple), recognized us in a store parking lot and gave us an earful for "lying". It was heart breaking for us at the time (we were very young), but now we know that hypocracy exists everywhere on occasion.

I'm glad that everything is working out to your satisfaction.

I had someone pinstripe my driver's side rear bumper pretty decently...no note. It didn't dent it so they might not have even realized they did it. Oh well, I buffed it out pretty well.

Good news is that your wait is almost over. Just remember to check all the work while your there, after a month it should be near perfect.
On the plus side, you've got to drive your new to you saab for awhile!

Jeep still in the shop, earliest I can get it back is Saturday from the look of things, a month almost to the day from the accident.

Being a Saturday and knowing your insurance agent is closed don't let them hand you a bill for supplemental work -- tacked onto the deductible or some such. I've had a (dealer recommended) shop try that. When I refused, they backed off and said they'd take it up with the insurance company themselves. Initially they refused to return my car unless I paid it. My insurance company complimented me for not falling for that.

Second, why does it take so long? I know; "quality work" they say. But most of the time your vehicle sat at the back of their lot waiting for the cheaper aftermarket parts to arrive. Then when they arrive, the crew gets pushed extra hard to hurry up and get that thing outta heah!
