To all that have changed their muffler to something a bit more louder, does it get rid of that stock, tinny sound from the engine? I really hate that sound.
Although I don't want it too loud in the cabin either.

The power and gas mileage bump would just be a bonus. So far I've heard the Borla, Gibson, MBRP, Magnaflow and Flowmaster 60 for the pats and I'm leaning towards the Gibson right now. I want a lower, deep sound. Any others?

This thread is back from the dead! There really hasn't been a consensus. There never is when it comes to exhaust. Just too many differing opinions.

I was set on the hushpower hp-2 and muffler delete path until my trusted exhaust shop said I'd go insane.

Now I'm thinking DBX or 60 Series. Or the magnaflow 14210. Damned if I can decide. Videos and sound clips don't really help either. Only the truly awful stand out.

Alot of you people are missing the point. Point is, why put a muffler in the same place as the factory muffler ? The reason for the Hushpower is the slim size as it fits inline downstream from the Cat. It is not Loud even if you just put a tip on it without a tailpipe and if ya do think it's too loud then run a tailpipe out the back. Very simple as it is not Rocket Science. Why put a big a$$ muffler where ya just removed a big a$$ muffler ? I'm done................

If I didn't know better, I'd think you were a Hushpower salesman with all the pitches you do for it. ;)

Also, these aftermaket mufflers are not "big a$$". They're normal muffler size, hence the vast expanse of room under the vehicle when they're installed over the factory suitcase. Placing them in the same place as factory helps utilize the same hangers and rubber absorbers to eliminate vibration.

^ Big.

Use a magnaflow if it suits your taste. I used the HP2 cause the size tucks underneath behind the cat real nice is all. Why put another muffler where the muffler is or was ? IMO it looks like ****, putting a bit smaller muffler where the big a$$ factory muffler is. You can stick the muffler whereever ya like as far as I care. The reason I say is, I did replace the factory muffler with a Gibson, put it in the same place as the OEM Muffler. It defeated the purpose as I did not hide the muffler. That is why I went inline with the Flowmaster Hushpower 2. Put a muffler, whatever ya choose inline with a 12" tip, go drive the Patriot and if it's too loud then put a tailpipe on it. If it's not too loud then leave it. The end result is no muffler in the back. The Hangers really don't account for anything anyways. Been there and done that is the moral of my story.

I have a different series muffler, but they are the same size as one another and i had the exhaust shop tuck it up tight. It can't be seen unless you bend down and look for it.

May I ask someone to send a picture of their muffler mod from the underside of the vehicle. After installing a custom built trailer hitch the muffler, which is ridiculously large, will rattle against it. The muffler on my V-10 motor home is not this large!

I Had a System professionally installed... they had never done this kind of system before so it was a learning experience

I had a Dynamax Thrush Dual Center Exhaust put on.

The best part about the system is that we were able to get it to be a straight system front to back right out the center like the SRT8 Grand Cherokees

It is riding a little low and i haven't got tips put on yet because we are extending the back 6 inchs so that the system will actually be sitting higher in the bumper so we will be cutting out part of it.

ya that is the plan like it is extremely tough to get a straight exhaust in there lol due to the lack of room. so after i have the back frame extended 6" it will allow for more room for me to tuck it up into the bumper. then all id do is throw some longer tips on and that should hide the muffler and just have tail pipes coming out of the lower part of the bumper.

Are you 4x4 or FWD? If your FWD, you should have had them place the muffler towards the front, and run pipes all the way back. And, is it 1 or 2 pipes run all the way to the back?

The reason why I ask, is because I'm FWD and we were able to run full true dual pipes from the front to the very back, just keeping them side by side until the very end. My muffler is tucked under in the center console pretty much. Definitely something to reconsider. And if you want to shoot me a PM, I had some pretty disappointing news about bags that you'll want to know before you spend the money on our patriots.

Just wondering, was there a benefit to running dual exhaust all the way? Being these are I4's, did you put on a split manifold or something, or did you split it at the downpipe. Why not just split it at the cat?

Rear Bumper

Hey anyone ever look at the jeep grand Cherokee SRT8 rear bumper. I would like to see if it would fit I have someone selling one locally here. looks like it would fit except it will partially cover part of the lights though i plan on filling them anyways and move the lights into the bumper where the break lights go.

I don't believe I've ever seen anythin on that, if it fits and doesn't look funny mounting shouldn't be too hard right?
