Just picked up my new-to-me 2008 North Edition and discovered this aftermarket switch under the dash to the left of the steering column. Any ideas what it might be for? Of course curiosity already got the best of me and I turned it on but nothing noticeable happened. It's a 4x4 FDI. Thanks in advance for any comments!

Passenger ejector seat switch, probably wired to the occupant switch (the one that detects someone is sitting in the seat) to avoid ejecting an empty seat! :D

Maybe it remotely toggles someone elses fog lights on and off. Take a spin around the hood while flicking the switch and see if some parked car doesn't start flashing it's fogs. :D

maybe street glow under car lights?

The previous owner probably put that there--not really connected to anything--just to drive you crazy!

Years ago, I sold a used car to a fellow who wanted everything on it--all the aftermarket stuff. So, I complied. However, the devil (...who made me do it..." I attached a small wire with a nut attached and hung it inside the RH front door panel. It would only rattle with extreme driving, so he didn't notice it right away. Never heard from him again--but I'd hoped that he spent a lot of money trying to find the rattle!

Jack, so you figure the reason for the switch is to make the new owner wonder why its there? When I was a kid I'd ask my father 'why' questions, and when he got tired of explaining why grass was green or why the sky was blue, he'd answer my questions by saying, "To make little boys ask questions."

I found the wires and a relay, all still connected to the battery and grounded. Also noticed two scuff marks on top of the front bumper where there must have been a set of driving lights installed. Thanks for the help and the laughs!
