OK Discount Tire I am def interested in the DuraTrac 225-75-16 for my 2014 FDII. I have bought several sets of these tires from you in the past for my JK Wranglers.

I see that "JDogs" rims have 0 backspacing and most of the 16" wheels you show to fit have about 5" or so backspacing. I like the Drag DR-31 16x7, would I have to use spacers to push these out to fit? I actually like when some of the tire goes past the wheel well and it is ok in my state if it does.

The DuraTracs are the best offroad tire I've ever used and quiet on the highway. Love the look of them too.

Thanks!

The 16x7 +40 Drag DR-31 (5.57" BS) will sit inside the fender by about 1 inch. You would have to run spacers (not recommended) to push this wheel model/size further out. A lift will also be needed needed to clear the 225/75-16 tire size.

I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I do not have to have them stick out, I may order 1 just to test fit and see how much rubbing or fender modification I have to make I really want to run that size without a lift.

The 225/75-16 size is aggressive on stock suspension. Without a lift you are going to have a good amount of rubbing.

my rims "offset" is 0... which is different from "backspacing". I think backspacing is somewhere around 4.5"

..also not so quiet :)
You are correct. An 8" wide wheel with 0 offset has 4.5" of backspace.

Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S 225/65/17 on the Jeep today! Definitely can tell a height difference and they look so much better than the stockers!
Looks good! I think those are good tires for permanent use, I just want something more aggressive bc I can always throw the stock 17s/Goodyears back on. The stock Goodyears were not great in the sand yesterday.

Yes, the 215 SRA is a digger in sand, too much bite, not enough width. A 235 HP is much better as a sand tire, but isn't much good in mud or wet rock.

Those look sickkkk. I can't wait to get them on my Patriot.

I hear you, all I need is something good in the sand (and looks good) since I'm in coastal NC.

is there any diff in 215/65 17 verse 215/65 15 in height. want to get 15in rims but want to be in stock height. bigger is not better for ( me ). want to still have my 16.1 craw gear and have the spare in the back. until someone comes up with a tire carrier swing out. ( I know they have the 200lb+ steal bumper that has the swing out )

Awesome thanks this really helps

Like aroundincircles pointed out, the 215/65-15 size is much shorter when compared to your current 215/65-17 size. If you want to maintain the same rolling diameter but in a 15" application you'll want to get into tire size 215/75-15. The 235/70-15 size will also maintain the same diameter but you'll likely have some rubbing on the pinch weld because of the extra width.

Will spacers help with the rubing

Airing Down - Tire width vs Rim width

This has been brought up a couple of times but nothing really concrete has come out of it. I figure this is a decent thread to bring this up in because Discount Tire can help us with its knowledge and it is related to the rim combinations in the first post.

What is the minimal rim width you can use with a certain tire width that will be safe to air down.

Example: 235mm wide tire on a 8" (~200mm) rim.

I have been trying to find a good looking rim with out much luck because it seems to get the offset I desire I can not find a narrower rim than 8".
