I think with slight changes to the front end and obviously the door that'd be pretty cool.

Meh... they edited out the parts where it bottomed out, and don't show how difficult it is to get started on the ledges. Sure its strong once it's on the climb... but how bad do you have to tear it up to get there? I still can't believe it has less clearance than the Patriot

For comparison ;)

I assume you mean the non-trail rated versions? Because I'm under the impression that the Trailhawk Cherokee is the same 9" clearance of the current 4wd Patriots. And don't forget that until 2011 only the FD2 Pat was 9"; the others were 8".

I think what you can take from this is that if you want to do major offroading with a Cherokee you get the Trailhawk. It's like the Pat in that regard - only the trail rated version is going to be a reasonable off-road choice.

The 2wd version of the Cherokee has something like 6" of ground clearance, but the Trailhawk still has something like 1/4 or 1/8 inch less than the FDII, if I remember right. Either way, it should have been better than the Patriot's clearance, not equal to it!

FDII Patriot has 9.1" of ground clearance, Trailhawk Cherokee has 8.8", Cherokee Limited 4x4 has 8.2", and the Cherokee 4x2 has 5.7" of clearance:

The clearance is measured from the lowest point on the vehicle, I wonder if the locking diff hangs down much at all under the cherokee, or something. On wranglers there is only 10.5" of ground clearance, but that is from the bottom of the diffs, front and rear, which is the lowest point

The patriot has a very flat bottom, nothing except the control arms come down at all, giving it a very high ground clearance.

I saw a video of the trail hawk driving over top the camera, and it looks just as flat at a glance. Interestingly though, the trail hawk only has .6" more ground clearance than the 4x4, but the roof is about 1.5" higher. So there could be something to a differential hanging an inch lower

I look at all vehicles on the road in front and back of me, guessing clearance. Some are very nice, with nothing below, some have all kinds of stuff sticking down. For some reason all Fords seem to have a lot of stuff hanging down.

This just means these cars will be built for the Chinese market...not shipped over into the US.

*I know no one said that yet, but I know someone will think that*

I don't know if the information is new, but Allpar seems to think that the Patriot/Compass replacement will basically be a Compass based on the new platform. They believe the "mini Grand Cherokee" look will be what Jeep continues to use in that segment.

It would be ironic if the Compass name and styling continued even after the Patriot outsold it every year.

That is the trend they have been going with lately... and it seems absolutely absurd. Money talks... except to Jeep/Fiat... for them the look they want is more important

Thats so stupid. Why keep the COmpass namesake when everyone has hated them over the years and now they're only mildly popular because they look 80% like the Grand Cherokees? So stupid. Just because all the Fiats look nearly identical doesn't mean the Jeeps have to. So disapointing.

hopefully its the compass instead of the pat i honestly think the comps are ugly as is
