You all are looking at this the wrong way... for pure audio bliss, you need to put some adaptors in the front doors to convert to a 6.5" round and put some component speakers in there and mount the tweeters on the little plastic piece up front. Run those and some 6X9's in the rear doors to a 5 Channel amp. The 5 channel may be a bit pricier but it allows you to expand later and get a subwoofer if you want. I can send pics of my install. I used all polk audio including an 8 inch where the factory one goes.

Great input. I used to be really into car audio and even after having the Patriot for 4 years I still look at those square tweeter covers and dream about the possibilities lol. My main issue is that I value my trunk space too much and while I like some bass I really don't need two 12' back there. But the set up you are describing with a tube style 8" little kicker in the back would be sweet, Enough to wow with some clear sound and some thump

I think what you are missing is that not everyone wants to add all that extra. Some folks just want to upgrade the stock speakers for a reasonable cost and for reasonable effort and get a better sound. Better 6X9's like the RF's can do that.

I am not disagreeing with what you posted or anything on technical grounds. It is just a lot more work and/or money than many want to/can do. The base Patriot speakers especially, and even the Bouston Acoustics Premium Sound speakers, are not that great. Just upgrading the speakers will help sound quality.

I have the BA Premium Sound setup and upgrading my speakers to RF's in the doors and tailgate( stock tweeters under dash and stock sub in back still )made a HUGE difference. Most people with the base sound system who upgrade to the RF's feel the sound quality is greatly improved.

I put some pioneer 6x9s in my door that I bought from sonic electronix. And they sound great. Also, what happens when the polarity is wrong in the speakers.
