I have been browsing the forums and have not seen any threads related to adding a super charger or turbo charger to a Jeep Patriot. Has anyone attempted this, what do you all think about doing it?
Where do you read that? In the nissan have it mated to a 3.5 v6, in the Elgrand as well as in the Murano, that engine puts out a lot more tha 185ft/lbs of torque, 240ft/lbs, actually (which is where I got my # from). From that alone, this should be able to handle at least the 240ft/lbs those engines put out, otherwise they wouldn't have used it for that application. The cvt in the Patriot was designed to handle a maximum of 185 ft/lbs of torque. The 2.4 puts out about 165 ft/lbs of torque so the cvt is almost maxed out already.
The Murano uses a JF010E CVT which has a higher rating than the JF011E used in the Patriot.Where do you read that? Ah, Ok, I don't know why, but I thought I had read that it was the same cvt.The Murano uses a JF010E CVT which has a higher rating than the JF011E used in the Patriot.
I thought I read it here, but I must be mistaken.Where do you read that? I was wrong, Sandstone pointed out it is two different CVT's one for the 4cyl and one for the v6 they use.I thought I read it here, but I must be mistaken.
Ty, this article was very helpful and gave me a good idea to stay away from the turbo/super charge idea for now. The only reason I was asking about it was because I was curious to see if anyone had done it.
The Patriot Sport is mechanically identical to a Dodge Caliber R/T, and I have seen at least one R/T with a turbo kit installed on another forum [Mods: can we post outside links here?] It is doable, but its not cheap, easy, nor quick. I haven't yet come across anyone who's done a CSRT4 engine & tranny swap, but I'm sure its been done as well (probably the easiest option to get turbo in our tubs). Also, there's a gentleman on THIS forum who has a turbo'd Patriot; we don't hear from him often, and he's located in another country (I wanna say Brazil... ???).Ty, this article was very helpful and gave me a good idea to stay away from the turbo/super charge idea for now.
