I will defintely contemplate picking one of these up. I have read the possibility of that pentastar V6 going in this. That seems silly, but it would be nice. It supposedly puts out 280+ horsepower. Can you imagine this thing with that much power?

DAMN!!! it looks good, but I need to order that grill!! anyone else wanna do a grill swap too?? looks like they listened and finally scrapped the slots and went with something that doesn't look like ****

Like the cruise being on the front of the steering wheel.... but the steering wheel is uuuugggly.

Don't like the new exterior plastic.
They attempted to give it the impression of being higher off the ground by making the parts that are lower than the old Cherokee black... sorry but it does not fool the eye.

I don't care for 2-tone exteriors. I want all exterior sheetmetal and plastic to be the same color.

Everyone notice that in the pictures the antenna is missing? Change the design don't just remove the antenna for the picture.

So the tan interior is 3-tone: tan lower, black dash, light grey upper.... :puke:

I do like the wheels.

I did a little research, there are sites saying that they will be upgrading the cvt to 190 hp and some saying they will offer the v6 in the 11 patriot... Sorry if it's old news.

Well, I like all of the design changes. I think it classes it up a bit, but I'm with johnnyboy on the plastic body cladding though. If they made it out of the same stuff on the tops of our rear bumpers, it'll look like hell in two years.

WOW, they look incredibly sexy! I thought Jeep would come out & ruin it, but they've out done themselves in the looks department!!
The patriot logo on the rear bumper gone - awesome!
Grill/frond end - awesome!
The darker accents around the bottom of the car - awesome!
New badging - awesome!
Easily accessible tow hooks front & back - delicious!

I really like were they've taken it.

Now they just have to address the poxy motor issue & throw in a proper turbo diesel or a petrol that actually has some power!

Impressed! :)

x2!!! I really love it!!! looks more easy to install a dual exhaust!!! :D

I'll quote Perth Patty's post since it sums up most things so nicely:

The patriot logo on the rear bumper gone - awesome!
So now it looks like just another bumper - when viewed from the back the vehicle could be anything now, a Honda, Nissan, whatever. There is nothing (aside of the Jeep decal of course) distinctive about it. Booooring. I liked the Patriot / Compass logo. Add chrome decals and it becomes quite spiffy.

Grill/frond end - awesome!
Eh, I don't know. They changed the fog light location, I suppose that can have a slight slimming effect on the looks of the front bumper. But will the new lights be more or less difficult to maintain, that is the real question. Black mesh doesn't really stand out, and modifying the grille to look nicer becomes trickier now. If they had used a different color mesh they might have something there, but with the black mesh, I am not that impressed.

When the whole Jeep is black, this really doesn't show, so meh once again. :)

New badging - awesome!
Stickers can be bought separately, so... Not a big deal to me. I'd prefer keeping the Patriot text on the rear bumper. Not that the side lettering has anything wrong with it, but now the new rear end looks so bland - and too many decals is tacky.

Only with FDII - nothing's changed there. Same tow hooks as always before. (If all Patriots would come with these tow hooks, now then that really would be a great improvement! Alas, the manufacturer remains clueless.)

I do like how they made the center of the steering wheel smaller, and tucked the muffler away.

Only small cosmetic changes. Makes you want to shrug and ask, "so what?"

Im not impressed. The best part of the patriot was how simple its design was.

They put too much contrast into it.

The grille looks stupid
I hate two tone paint jobs.
The bumpers look ok, but again the two tone?
The wheels are nice, but there should be a black steel 16" option for FDII models (who wants to scratch those shiney rims on a trail?)
The interior looks horrible. How many colors do they need in there? Stick with all black IMO

I agree, we need more Drivetrain specs.

Looks way better than the old look. Fit and finish look great, Seats look way better!
Steering wheel is great!!!

Puts the old design in the weeds! Nice Job! Looks like it's worth the money now, far better selling apeal than the old design!

Love the cladding and bumpers,. It looks like a real jeep now!

I'll bet the price went way up for the base model 4x4 though and that sucks.

if it came down to an exposed muffler or a bigger gas tank i would have gone with a bigger gas tank. who cares about an exposed muffler when your low-fuel light comes on at 275 miles???

13.5 gallons is pathetic for a vehicle that gets 22-25mpg considering my Civic has a 13.2 gallon tank but it gets 38mpg (that's right, i can drive from Philadelphia to Cleveland on 1 tank of gas). i'm not saying the Patriot should be able to accomplish that by any means since that's not the primary purpose of the vehicle, but the gas tank in the Patriot should be 16 gallons minimum. all other SUV's in its class have a gas tank that's 15.8 gallons or larger.

i like the new look of the Patriot, the lower black accents on the bumpers etc. i think the Patriot is finally following the modern design trends and adds an element of ruggedness to the overall package. increasing the ground clearance was also good too, but i feel like there should have been an additional off-roading feature enhancement for a true "off-roading" improvement that could be marketed.

not a fan of the honeycomb black plastic grilled underneath the slots though

while it's great that Chrysler has finally realized that using the same steering wheel across models saves money (GM realized this about 15 years ago), using the GC steering wheel design for the interior of the Patriot doesn't work. the steering wheel design is great, the interior of the Patriot is great, however the design cues do not match. however, the GC steering wheel does go with with the new Wrangler interior (which i know was modeled after the Patriot, however it is different). compare the interior photos of the 2011 Wranger and the 2011 Patriot with regards to steering wheel contrasted against the dash board and you will see what i mean

Those of you that like the steering wheel:

To me it looks like a steering wheel from a go-kart with the big pad in the middle. It screams "oh, maybe we should put a pad on this so no one bumps their head when the get rear-ended" or "crap, we have to have an airbag don't we".

Do you not see that?

jgg204, I still don't understand the complaining about the range of the gas tank... even at 75 mph you can drive for over 3.5 hours and only then will the light come on suggesting you stop soon... seriously you are telling me that you don't need to stop (potty break, to stretch, etc) after 3.5 hours of driving? I welcome a break for a few minutes after driving over 3 hours.

I agree and disagree Joe.

While I admit I welcome a stop ever 3 hours or so, I dont always want to have to worry about filling the tank. Sometimes a quick pee break at a rest area is all you need after 3 hours. (only our toll road rest areas have gas in ohio)
