i bought my 2000 neon in 2004 with 86,000 km's on it and am now up to 260,000 all on the same clutch...is this abnormal to have the same functioning clutch for so long? M y pat is CVT
we put 210,000km on our 2002 Dodge Neon... never had a clutch problem.

Yes I did notice on the news today the totyota founder appolagising for these deaths.
Let me show you an interesting post however.
And then maybe Atleast the toyota founder is apologising....
This story did not result in a death however it easily could have if the driver was inexperienced.

Andrew,
It looks like the only Patriot complaint is yours.

the moral of the story seems to be: if you live in aus don't buy a jeep

Can't say that I'd blame you for that. I love my pat but I'm not sure that I'd have bought one if it wasn't for my dad's employee discount I get through Chrysler.

Hello everyone I have been officially told why Ive been treated so badly by the Jeep people.

It is simply because they found out I bought the car secondhand(with 2,500km on the clock) from a Nissan Dealer.

Aint that just pathetic?

Now I wonder why a vehicle with such low mileage was on a used car lot. Maybe damaged and promptly unloaded?

Somebody bought my old Cherokee only 6 months old. It had a bad clutch and had been in a serious collision. In all honesty, I told the place where I traded it because I respected the integrity of the dealership; it was also pretty hard to hide that bad repainting job! :icon_rolleyes: Being honest themselves, they probably wholesaled it rather than create an angry customer of their own. Down the road, somebody bought it. Probably has a story like yours.

That said, the car I traded for was a warranty return (GM was doing a 30 day no-questions-asked at the time). I drove that Cutlass someone else returned for 140,000 trouble free miles -- not a single repair and I frankly used it for a truck. I killed the suspension, but it was still roadworthy when I traded it in. Only reason I traded it then was to actually get a truck, or more properly a ute, an Olds Bravada.

Conclusion: a low mileage used car can go either way; you can get lucky or get a lemon.

I'm in the UK and admittedly have only owned my 'Riot for 6 months, but I have done 13000 miles in that time, and absolutely LOVE it! I have never been bitten by a car before and I am a serious petty-head! Still can't understand why you were refused warranty on the second clutch tho'..............

And I have no clutch probs. Touch Wood.

i get it now

Let me run to the junkyard, buy a $500 jeep,
Then demand jeep fix it under warranty,

Sounds like your gripe should be with the nissan dealer, not the jeep dealer,
Also was car priced below market price?
$20k or so for the pat, did they deduct price of clutch?

Terasec's right. The selling dealer ought to back it up. A 30 day drivetrain warranty is pretty standard even for a bucket of bolts. A current model with low miles ought to get a year.

the Clutch initially blew 5 months after the car was purchased. I paid $32000 for the vehicle, (same model with same mods brand new is usually $34500). The vehicle was sold at such low kms as it was from a deceised estate. The vehicle is a late 2008 model, and was purchased in mid 09. Admittedly the first time the clutch blew it was my fault (as ive already stated) However the second time..? well it is rediculous.

I asked the nissan deale rwhat they would do about it they strongly reccomended getting jeep to replace the clutch as it was more straight forward for them to do it, and about the same price either way.

Now the other day i got a call from my mechanic telling me i was missing my air intake box.. i promptly called jeep and asked them why it was still in their workshop and they quoted.. "What do u think the parts are in our workshop? you purchased the car from a nissan dealer, how do you know they arent in their workshop?"
My answer was simply, well the vehicle has gone from your workshop to my mechanic. NOWHERE ELSE as because of your stuff up it is un driveable.

So, the first time you had the clutch replaced it was the Jeep dealership that replaced it? or the Nissan dealership? Whoever replaced your clutch with a faulty, defective, incorrectly installed part is required by law to remedy the situation within a reasonable ammount of time.

Your Jeep is a good little vehicle, once you get the problems you have fixed it will be a great little vehicle. Look at your options. You bought the Patriot for the same reason we all did. "It is the best small SUV on the road." Yes you got one with problems and those problems were compounded by bad mechanical work. Don't give up on you Patriot yet.

LOL. Thanks krocker.

Yes it is the jeep dealer at fault however they wont admit responsibility.

My gearbox has sprung a leak today :( Ive taken it back to my mechanic and hes fixing it tomorrow :D I like having a desent, honest mechanic. Makes life so much easier.

I have decided to keep my Riot, as like i said ive got the kinks ironed out now so it should be a good car.
However im still selling the other Riot for a Patrol, as like i said it has major issues, plus it has been crashed (damn Kangaroos).

Used? THAT explains it all to me.

Adam Savage (of Mythbusters): "Well, there's your problem... (yanks out a seemingly unimportant component of your gearbox and holds it up for all to see) A bad dealer!"

Jamie Hyneman (of Mythbusters): "Adam, I'd put that dealer down. You don't know where it's been and it might be dirty!"

sounds like you shouldn't have given it to your own mechanic, but insisted Chrysler complete their work properly through Fair trading. Once you gave it to your own guy, you are also on your own because they can say he did stuff.
You still have the option of Fair Trading or legal action to insist repairs are completed.

The Nissan dealer also ripped you off...Pats are going for 27 grand NEW in Oz.

i didnt send this forum to show that patriots are bad, i sent this forum to show that jeep alot like toyota have problems.

If you read the original post about the 2 wranglers...
so, you are saying that jeeps are a lot like toyotas, yet on your first post you said you are going to get all toyotas.

WTF? ARE YOU RETARDED????

i think you are.

Replacing what you called "a bad vehicle" with another bad vehicle is not very smart. is it?

just to remind you (in case you forgot) of your retarded comment:
Good Bye 3 jeeps, hello 3 Toyotas.

Maybe you should take a look?
