2016 Jeep Patriot, 109k miles. Always serviced on time. No big issues. Started 3 weeks ago, died when accelerating...goes in like limb mode and just dies. Fires right back up every time. The first two times no engine light, 3rd time engine light came on and went and had advanced auto read it for me. No codes given. Next day started it up and engine light was gone, has driven fine for another week, drove to work died on me again. Fired right back up and didnt miss a beat getting me to work, engine light on again. I don't have a lot of money to take it some where and pay a **** ton to just tell me what needs fixed. Where do I start? It's so scarey driving during rush hr and it just dies. Almost like it's out of power or gas....but always fires right back up

Welcome to the forum.

The crankshaft position sensor (or associate wiring and connector) is well known for causing random stalls without setting a code. If you decide to replace it, OEM has worked better for most than aftermarket.

There was also a recall that applied to some 2016 vehicles:

You can use the VIN at the link below to see if the recall applies:

Please tell me how exactly the wiring or connector of the crankshaft sensor can affect the sudden stop of the engine.

I seem to have the same problem. I have already bought the crankshaft sensor. But I am not sure that the new connectors will be good.

Intermittent continuity (open circuit, high resistance).

You can try wiggling the cable when it's running to see if it happens.

Only time anything like this happened to me was when I put in new spark plugs without checking the gap on them, and it was idling kinda rough. The rough idle and accompanying stalls at idle went away when I got the spark plugs gapped properly. Probably not the issue with yours since it's happening to you while driving.

Make sure you have at least over a 1/4 of a tank of gas , change your coils it's not firing right. Get a oil change , change your spark plugs. If that don't work, then get 2coded before and after.
