A couple months ago, I bought a 2014 Jeep Patriot Sport. Overall, I've been happy with every part of it except for its throttle response. I swear there's at least a half second to a full second worth of delay between me giving it gas and the engine revving. It's been like this since I bought it. What can I do to improve throttle response? I've heard I can disconnect the battery for half an hour to reset the Electronic Throttle Control system, but I haven't tried that yet.

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Slow throttle response on these is sort of the nature of the beast (drive by wire).

Disconnecting the battery can help temporarily by clearing the learned adaptives.

You might be able to use something like HP Tuners to change the throttle response, or something like a Sprint Booster, but I've never tried either.

Thank you for the very fast reply. I will try disconnecting the battery once I get home and look into getting a Sprint Booster or an HP Tuner.

I have an 07 Patriot with the 2.4 fwd and the 5 speed manual trans, I had the same disappointment as you with the throttle response and after a couple weeks of it driving me absolutely nuts to the point I was about to get rid of it, I somehow figured out that if I turned off the traction control my throttle response greatly improved (not like it was putting anyone back in the seat or anything because at the end of the day it is still a patriot) so much so that I actually started to enjoy driving it and now the second thing I do after sitting in the driver's seat is hit that Trac button. It's reflex now, I didn't even think about it or need to look to make sure I'm not hitting the hazard lights. I don't know how this will translate with the cvt's but it really helped with the manual version. If that doesn't help you and always buy a "Pedal Commander" that plugs into the canbus port and is supposed to give better throttle response and give you a "sportier" overall performance (although I have no personal experience with that is only what I've heard and read). Hope you get the results your looking for!
