The curve in that sticker would bother me too. I'd remove it... just my opinion. I also wonder why people cover their license plate in pictures. Like what kinda nefarious things can someone do with your plate number?
A heat gun and some 3M adhesive remover made quick work out of that bad decision. Your opinion was valuable to me since you agreed with my crazy lopsided trail rated badge!😄

Haven't posted in a while. I bought motor mounts for Bleep but haven't put them on yet. Been busy with life stuff. I'm gonna brag for a minute. I have a spare room and I'm turning it into a gym for my daughter and me. It's 50/50 for both of us. She's a bada-- in training and I'm out of shape so we can do it together. She's a high orange in karate and just got her yellow in jujitsu. I've got punching bags, free weights, treadmill, etc.

Anyway, I've been mostly driving Bleep because I still have the transmission service to do on the '16. The '16 has around 57k and it's the nicer of the two so I'm trying to get more life out of it. With the cooler nights I'm getting tpms lights on both. I started playing around with Bleep's dash menu and the additional info is so nice. I know exactly what tire is low. On the '16 it doesn't say. I fiddling with the menu, Bleep gets 17.something mpg whereas the '16 gets 21. I chalk the difference up to the gearing but I'm sure the lift and tires factor in too.

I bought a GoPro a couple of months ago with the intention of making YouTube videos. I think I'm gonna create a Patriot channel since I have 2 to work on. I'll likely create a couple other channels too. Just need to learn how to use the camera and edit video.

I'm sure it won't go anywhere or take off but I'll put a link on here when I do. I want to do it mostly for accountability. I there's people that give a crap, I'd be more encouraged to start slapping on my growing list of parts.

Fortunately/unfortunately, the Bleep build is done. Over the past few years I've been browsing Craigslist for a restoration project. I came across a barn find I couldn't pass up. It's an '86 Bronco with a 351. He looks rough on the outside but he's solid. Never been taken apart, is complete and the floor pan and rockers are solid. Meet "Gasquatch". Yes, I totally stole the name from Blaze and the Monster Machines. A 6" lift, 35s, a little welding and paint and he's gonna be a beast!

I like this. It's my thread and I can post all the nonsense I want! So I just bought this... View attachment 100609
July 11th... remember when I bought this? I remember because I'm the dumba-- that paid nearly $800 for it. Still don't have it. They keep telling me "It's in production". Well effing produce it faster! I emailed them yesterday and told them I wanted it before it snowed which could be anytime now. I said I want it in hand by the end of the month or I want my money back... crickets.

So be warned if ordering this

They finally got back to me. They said they'd let the production folks know that I'm impatient. In my defense, they said 3 months and it's been 4.5. Since I bought a new project and I don't really care about this one. So we'll see. Anyone interested in it with a small discount?

I haven't driven Bleep much in several weeks. He's got a problem. There's some kind of noise coming out of the front driver's side that makes it sound dangerous. It's clunking and banging in the suspension. Gonna tear into very soon.

I have a renewed interest in Bleep after replacing the fuel pump. I think I'm going to shift my efforts back to him for a while. I posted about the lift around 10 months ago. The suspension is still very rough. However, I've still only put about 3k miles on him so I don't think it's had time to mellow out. I have the winch mount/bumper in the garage but I have never even opened the box. I'm going to check it out tonight.

I think I mentally checked out when I unsuccessfully threw parts at him. I considered selling him briefly. Things are looking up for his future and I want to give him new life.

Shouldn't be too bad, a jigsaw or sawzall makes quick work of cutting the bumper plastic. Got pics of mine over here. Install is pretty easy but you'll need a drill and a bit for the extra bolts that run through the frame horns.

Looks like they changed their powder coat, my bumper and sliders were glossier. Mine haven't held up super great against the Connecticut road salt, I need to pull them off and sandblast and recoat them, but that won't happen while working six days a week. 💀

So I decided to tackle the towing receiver hitch. I watched their suggested video. It looked easy enough. Wrong!

Their video showed it on a "regular" Patriot like the '16. Sorry, don't know what to call it. The FD2 has a tow hook in the way.

Taking the tow hook off was way more involved than I was expecting and I decided not to do it. Mostly because there was this in the way...

I don't know exactly what this is but my educated/uneducated opinion was it was likely part of the EGR system... maybe a charcoal canister if cars still even have them!

So I'm going to take a step back and reevaluate my decision to do it myself. Maybe I'll try it again without drinking any beer and having my wits about me

I'm not against removing the tow hook because I still have this leftover from my truck.

I just don't want to leave an empty hole there. But yes, I did realize while under there that there was a way to keep it on there. The video I watched said 30 minutes for an expert or 1 hour for a novice. I'm somewhere in between but that wasn't gonna happen that easily!

Had to switch to Google Chrome and the ads were out of the way😄

Glad you got it fixed!
Thanks Buddy. I don't know if people compliment you very often but you do a great job. And to be honest with you, I probably wouldn't be posting on here if it wasn't for you. Your "likes" say at least one person is listening and is interested in my posts. So thanks again for creating a welcoming environment!
