I just picked up a 2014 and it came with two keys. I always program extras because the worst thing that can happen is having only one key. Here in New York, a dealer charges over $500 for a replacement key and locksmiths have trouble making the Jeep keys though they usually only charge $300.

Two China replacements off eBay cost me $18. I have a key cutting lathe (also from eBay at $120) so I cut the new keys to match.

Internet instructions on programming this car aren't very good. When I followed them, the new keys would not program. Since someone will have the same problem, I'm detailing how I got the job done.

1. Sit in car and put on seat belt.
2. Insert the first good key and turn to run for about 8 seconds. Turn to lock and remove key.
3. Within a few seconds,
Insert the second good key and turn to run for about 8 seconds. Turn to lock and remove key.
4. Within a few seconds,
Insert the new unprogrammed key and turn to run. Keep it there for a long time, like 40 seconds or so.

Contrary to on-line instructions, don't expect lights, chimes or anything like that. I got none of those and my key programmed perfectly.

I hope this helps someone else struggling with bad instructions. I don't know if these instructions match any other years. The 2014 is a four-button key with lock/unlock/panic and remote start. Good luck.
