Where could I attach to be pulled out of the ditch when the Jeep doesn't have tow hooks or a hitch? Some advice previously received was the holes in the subframe (see green arrows in photo) but I believe these to be for securing the Jeep during transport on a flatbed, and that they won't withstand the force of a tug. Jeep is already in the ditch, so advice to add tow hooks or a hitch is unfortunately beyond my ability at the moment...

My understanding is using that to pull yourself out would most likely damage the frame/ unibody rail. Unfortunately I'm not up to speed on this topic to give any advice on where to hook up too. If you have a hitch that would be a good spot.

Thanks Pkwasi - unfortunately no hitch installed on this unit, so I'm at quite a loss!

I believe the green arrow holes are the correct reinforced recovery points to be used with a mini J hook harness (looking for confirmation) Not convenient if buried in the snow or mud.

Thank you! Based on some online reading I came to this conclusion as well and came here to post it. Even found a local store with the hooks! I'll let you know how recover goes.

i found a metal eye under the front bumper onthe right side. This is on the front subframe.
Pulled my wifes 2007 to start it when electrical connection on starter broke. Worked fine.
You might be referring to the front tie down point that is designed as a hold-down during new vehicle transporting. It is claimed to not be strong enough as a recovery point. In your case and maybe other very easy conditions, I imagine it might be o.k. for very gentle pulling.

Here's a fuzzy picture from another thread: .......................I plan on never getting stuck. Uh Oh......I retract that......don't want to invoke bad Karma, LOL.

Yea, they'll work for easy things like that, or pulling a stalled car off a busy street, but not reliable for an off-road recovery.

Clear. I have a screwable towhook laying in my sparewheel but no clue where to mount it since there is no hatch in the plastic frontbumber to open as i am used from european cars.
Check the rear bumper and see if there's a little square of plastic you remove to uncover the mount for it.
