Hey, I HAD MY 2011 Patriot into our local dealership for front subframe replacement. Going by the dealership my rear subframe passed inspection. To me it did’t look great either rusty/dirty the question is what’s the proper way I can clean it up and properly protect it?

i know its an old thread but i would recommend to scrape/clean it as good as you can, spray or paint it with hammerite, thst you can put directly on rusted metal. Put tectyl on it when its dry and do inside with fluid film. More work but lasts longer.
Then in future put fluid film on it once a year or so depending on use/climate.
