Hey all,
I have a 2009 2.4 5 Speed Patriot that I have done a ton of work on. I would like it to last and have some spare time to rebuild the engine and T355 transmission. I am buying the kits for all seals, bearings, timing, pistons (getting the engine bored), valves, lifters, and cams. Also the kit for the transmission (bearings and Synchronizer Rings).
I am not a mechanic. I am a youtube warrior and have some natural skill. I am struggling to find any info, either videos or docs on rebuilding the 2.4 GEMA engine or 5 speed T355 transmission. Timing is a big concern for me, I know I need to get it right. Does anyone have any content on doing this or suggestions?
Side note, I am currently stationed in Italy and none of the parts are sold here. So it takes me 3-4 weeks to get parts. I also don't trust the mechanics here, so I want to do this myself. No, I am not the original owner, and no warranty.
I have already replaced the following so it is worth it for me to rebuild the engine and have a like new Jeep:
Intake Manifold
Fuel Pump
All hoses and vacuum lines.
Plugs and coil packs.
Front and rear full suspension.
Thermostat and housing.
Belt and pullies.
Clutch
Master and slave cylinder.
PVC
Front Axels
Front hubs
Vapor canister, purge valve, and leak filter.
Fuel injectors
Starter
O2 sensors
Intake manifold runner control valve
