Hey all,
I have a 2009 2.4 5 Speed Patriot that I have done a ton of work on. I would like it to last and have some spare time to rebuild the engine and T355 transmission. I am buying the kits for all seals, bearings, timing, pistons (getting the engine bored), valves, lifters, and cams. Also the kit for the transmission (bearings and Synchronizer Rings).

I am not a mechanic. I am a youtube warrior and have some natural skill. I am struggling to find any info, either videos or docs on rebuilding the 2.4 GEMA engine or 5 speed T355 transmission. Timing is a big concern for me, I know I need to get it right. Does anyone have any content on doing this or suggestions?

Side note, I am currently stationed in Italy and none of the parts are sold here. So it takes me 3-4 weeks to get parts. I also don't trust the mechanics here, so I want to do this myself. No, I am not the original owner, and no warranty.

I have already replaced the following so it is worth it for me to rebuild the engine and have a like new Jeep:
Intake Manifold
Fuel Pump
All hoses and vacuum lines.
Plugs and coil packs.
Front and rear full suspension.
Thermostat and housing.
Belt and pullies.
Clutch
Master and slave cylinder.
PVC
Front Axels
Front hubs
Vapor canister, purge valve, and leak filter.
Fuel injectors
Starter
O2 sensors
Intake manifold runner control valve

Welcome,

Don't know how much help it will be, but you can download a copy of the 2014 service manual from the link below:

Click through any messages about file size to big to preview and virus scanning and the download should start.

Welcome to the group? Where are you stationed? I spend a year at NAS Sigonella. You must really love your Patriot.

I have this, but for some reason it won't load past page 9000 and something. And of course, most of what I want is after that.

I am down near Naples. I am loving my patriot less and less every day. I have it completely gutted inside right now as I am redoing some wiring and updating the sound system too. I keep finding little surprises to fix with every panel I remove. Laying some sound proofing and power washing everything. Might as well while I have it apart.

WOW! That's quite the bit of work you've undertaken! At that point I'd use some roll-on rubberized truck bedliner for soundproofing. I think if you dig that far into any vehicle you'll be finding surprises.
