Time to bring a very old thread back to life! My creaking front suspension has become unbearably loud- occasionally. Some times it is totally silent and sometime it's so loud it causes an echo! Will be calling to schedule and appointment to have it fixed. I will be armed with the knowledge of this thread and will play the "manufacturer defect" card if they try to charge me. This is a fantastic service that JP.com forum provides to its members. My level 2 membership has already paid for itself!

So yeasterday I took my Patriot to the dealer to get the creaking frnt suspension looked at. Dropped it off at 10am. I was sure I'd be stuck there all day watching Peoples Court but they actually have a shuttle service that took me home. Not bad!

So I'm chilling all day at my apt and decide to call them at 4p to see how it's going. The Service adviser tells me that they can't find anything wrong! WHAT??!! I tell the service adviser to get the engine compartment hot. I tell them to run the AC and the engine for a while and then bounce the suspension. That's when I notice it acting up. She does that and calls be a back two hours later. They found the problem.....
FAULTY SWAY BAR BUSHINGS.
Yep, took them all day to figure out something I already knew thanks to this thread. So they gotta order the part and we'll have to make another appointment.

All in all: pretty happy with the service so far. They didn't even think about charging me for any of this and the shuttle service taking me home kept my day from being ruined. Not bad so far!

Anyone else? Just turned over 16,000 miles on my 2007 and notice a significant creak from the front when rolling over speed bumps and the rounded curb into my driveway.

Probably has something to do with the couple high-water creek crossings and getting it stuck in 13" of mud on a few trips. I'm going to have the dealership take a look at the next checkup... just curious to know if anyone else is experiencing this.
No! I have never experienced anything like this.

Well, it took them two days and probably 5 mins of labor, but the dealer replaced my sway bar bushings.... For free of course.

Had it back one day so far and everything sounds great. Not a single peep, squeak, or creak! Very happy now!

!HAPPY DANCE!

I have 60K on my patriot - My front end squeaks over bumps and turns - kinda embarrassing - I sprayed White lithium grease soaking the steering stabilizer rubber bushings - this did away with the noise for a day or two then came back - I just bought a set online for 9 bucks - gonna try this weekend to install them - Im hoping this fixes my problem - Found a great parts supplier - http://www.moparpartsamerica.com - i was able to see a part blow up for the front end among other parts...

bad bushing?

07 4x2 patriot sport
sounds coming from left front suspension, told that the bushing was shot, need control arm and bushing replaced.
Is this a defect or recall that manuf should cover? also told that RF tie rod getting worn... two year old car - dissappointed.
also, how hard is it to replace left mirror? the plastic casing around mirror is smashed... sigh
thanks for any replies

43k miles

Another member of the squeak club here. I have just over 18,000 on my FD1 and have the same sounds as many of you are describing. It's been going on for a couple of thousand now.

Any updates? Anyone have any new information.

Just had mine in the shop. Mine likes to sound off when it is cold. They removed the lateral arm upper bushings, clean, inspect and grease.

I am also getting the same sound from the right rear.

They also found that the two rear shocks were leaking. They have ordered replacements. The dealer is also going to talk to the factory rep to see if they know of any common problem. I am going to take them a copy of this thread with the Rapid Response from above.

Just thought I would check to see if anyone had anything to add or if there is any more on a TSB or anything.

Thanks for any and all help!

I had the rapid response done about 3k miles ago and now I have a creaking/popping sound coming from the right front. It only happens when I accellerate slowly, but with enough engine power to slowly lift the front end. This is probably the only thing I've been disappointed in the patriot with. The front suspension just feels really loose and makes a ton of noise.

noisy suspension

For around 3 months we had noisy front suspension it creaked when breaking and rattled going over pot holes after numerous visits to the dealers who have been very good we think at last we have our Pat sorted.
The first thing to be changed was the front left damper, when the dealer was removing the damper the front strut bushes fell out.So they ordered two new front lower wishbones, there was a delay in getting them as they were on back order(does that mean that there are lots of pats with the same prob) however we dropped the Patriot of yesterday 01 Oct to have them installed and we got the car back today 01 Oct what a difference to the car no noise no rattles its great:smiley_thumbs_up: so we will wait and see how it goes over the next week or so.
Forgot to say we have done around 19000 miles

After showing my dealer the print out of this entire thread and them hearing the creaking by driving over some dips in their parking lot, they have ordred bushings.
I have heard some creaks coming from the front, but not allot. I am getting the creakng from the rear. So those are the bushings that they have orderd. I guess we will see how it goes and order the front ones later when the back is cured. I was told that the factory service rep has not been much help and that the local service guys are having a hard time getting him to even call back. They said that he has only been by the shop once and was worried about getting his suit dirty. ( I have never met a good service rep who didn't have grease on his hands) Anyway, I also am getting new rear shocks since they discovered that the current ones are leaking.

So far I am happy. I am willing to cut allot of slack to the service guys as long as I think that they are trying to help. If I ever feel like they are just blowing me off then thats when I get pi**#$ and go higher.

Will post how this all goes. Should be going back for the service later next week(wk of 10-5-09).

My 08 FWD Patriot since new had a rack and pinion noise I had to replace it whit my dealer it was too loose the most closer description is the metallic box filled with hardware.
The new unit has less noise how ever I had by my own to adjust the rack and pinion unit in the screw located at top of this unit the stering become a little harder but not too much I also notice a gap in the link arms In both ball and socket joints so I press them to tighten.
The noise has almost desapear but when I turn to the right in paved road I still hearing a little creek noise only when turning but not when going straight.

I will check my ball and sockets links located between the sway bar and the strut

I hope to be clear

Has any one else noticed this?

Dang, I created another thread before finding this one. I just had my anti sway bushings replaced today for the second time in six months.

I love my Jeep but I don't like the idea of possibly having this happen every few months even after it is off warrantly and the noise gets very irritating after a while.

I have the same problem noise form rear suspension, its sound's like a rubber tuoch to metal or each other (kind of) . I hear it when I driving slow. It's making me crazy. It's a brend new Patriot . I just made 870 kilometer's (540 miles) ! I'm so pist of that I bought this car. I'm driving over the snow, and black roads (winter in my country) not off road ! is it realy sway bar bushing ? After 540 mile's ?

I've too noticed that my front left control arm has a broke ball joint, so the arm hits the metal body of the car every time i run over small bumps.

Should the control arm be replaced by a dealer under warranty or not? Should i only tighten the bolt???
